“A fantastic welcome in wonderful Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Thankyou Kenza and Didier for a wonderful welcome for myself and my daughter at your lovely authentic Riad, a family home in the centre of Marrakech near to the Souks and the central square. We could not have felt more looked after and the location was ideal to explore the Medina. The Riad itself is beautiful and quiet. Kenza and her family made special efforts to guide us around the city visiting the Marrakesh museum and other interesting sights. We also went on a day trip arranged by Kenza from the Riad to a waterfall in the Atlas mountains where we swam and ate a lovely restaurant next to the waterfall. Our room was beautifully decorated with air conditioning and a small fridge as well as an ensuite bathroom with shower. We had breakfast with the family on the roof of the Riad and were served mint tea on returning from our explorations of the city. I highly recommend this Riad to anyone who would like an authentic experience of Marrakech. I hope that we can visit again soon.

This Riad has two things going for it... location and cleanliness. It is not as advertised. There is no bar, no restaurant, no complimentary transport from the airport, no spa, etc... There was very little (5 minutes) of hot water for my shower. There are no locks on the doors to the rooms and no safes either. Breakfast consists of toasted bread and jam (as is common in this country). When I contacted the manager regarding the complimentary airport transport he was very rude and I ended up paying it myself. They also do not take credit cards. I would have chosen another Riad for a better price.

We recently returned from a 5 night stay st this Riad after checking it out on tripadvisor and booking 2 suites in September 2013. We had also booked transfers from the airport and were pleased to be told that our driver would be parking the bus and walking us to our Riad. We arrived at the Riad after approx a 10 minute walk. Luggage transport would have been provided as an extra however for us it wasn't necessary. The ally's were narrow and quiet away from the main shopping area and we must admit to worrying how on earth we would ever find our way out of this maze we found ourselves in. I don't think any of us had ever felt as lost as we did that first night. As a result we decided on getting a good nights sleep and hoping that in the morning all would become a lot clearer! Our arrival at the Riad could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The family were most charming. Unfortunately they only had us down for one suite so that caused an issue however they did have a twin room available so our friends were put in this for two nights until the suite became available. The twin beds in the room were extremely hard and not to our friends liking. Don't be misguided though the 'suites' are not to European standard and would only just about pass for adequate rooms in the UK. They were however very clean and the air conditioning on the heating setting did work in a fashion. Our bathroom did not have a door and the facilities were again 'authentic'. The hot water was was more miss than hit which in the height of summer may be comfortable however when we were there it was cold and hot water was what was needed to get warmed up! As mentioned by another reviewer the rooms don't lock which in our country may be a worry however we experienced no problems at all. The Riad is their home and can only be accessed by the front door for which you have to ring a bell to get in. Part of the experience is that by the end of day 2 you are feeling very much at home and thinking and behaving like a morrocan and as a bonus your negotiating skills will have been upgraded.
Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and consisted of orange juice, pancakes, bread buns, jam, honey, butter, mint tea, coffee or hot chocolate. All nice and freshly prepared by the very hard working lady called 'Cider' - sorry about the spelling.
The Riad is perfectly sited for the souks and main square and believe it or not we did find our way back on the second day. The owner Kanza took us out on the first morning to help us get our bearings and continued to do over and above what was expected to make our stay most enjoyable and memorable, even providing a birthday cake without any prompting and wine glasses for the morrocan wine we purchased from the smaller Carrefour supermarket.
In short this Riad provides an authentic morrocan stay and welcome. It's facilities are fairly basic and perhaps some would say overstated on the web site however be aware that morrocan standards are not European standards and that if walking down dark ally's on a night is more terrifying (totally unfounded as our experience was that the people are very friendly if not a little exuberant at times) than romantic then this may not be the place for you. Also if luxury is on the agenda then choose elsewhere. However to experience a morrocan Riad well placed for all local attractions with owners who go over and above what is expected then give this a try.

We have nothing but praise for this family-run Riad. It is in the old part of Marrakesh so we knew it would be more guest house than hotel. The decor is delightful, many colours, patterns and textures with lovely metalware and pottery ornaments. Our hosts Kenza and her husband Didier could not have been more welcoming or helpful - they took time to explain things, talked us through the available excursions (and made the booking for us), suggested places to visit and places to avoid, recommended places to eat......the list of things they did is endless. On our first night (due to overbooking by their agents) we stayed in Kenza's own home - a 5 minute walk away - they invited us to dine with them that evening and the meal was the best chicken couscous ever!! We will definitely return for another stay.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room and there was very little noise, only conversation, phone calls, etc and...

Booked this based on the reviews and the description, Bar , restaurant, steam room , terrace NONE of which existed. No door locks which could be of concern,to get in you need to ring the front doorbell so as the bolts can be thrown and the door opened, not so good if you are sleeping and someone wants to come in.
You will NOT find this place without a guide, even if you use the taxi transfer as this drops you off outside of the medina walls.
The staff were really helpfull however I should have preferred the website description to much the reality

This is tough to review as it is our 4th stay in Marrakesh so we had expectations; and also knew a little of the area. We were here for a week over New Year to include 3 days of golf - in the end we stayed 4 nights here and then moved to a larger, more comfortable place (maison des Oliviers) 15 minutes outside Marrakesh.

Positives: great location, superb hosts, great for a first timer visit over 3 or 4 days on a tight/ medium budget. Local restaurant suggested first night; excellent local Hamman etc.

Negatives: to us, this was not a 'real' Riad but more of a UK style B&B with people's homes where they rent some rooms. Not a negative if you know and expect that.
It is difficult to find the first time so take the offer of being picked up at the airport.

Rooms are ok although in January it is cold at night and the air conn (hot) did not work in our Blue Room; hot water was a little hit and miss; and for some reason the room seemed to capture and amplify all the night sounds outside - so a little difficult to sleep at times.

breakfast was basic but ok, although I was surprised that the orange juice was not fresh. Small touches but... And the upstairs terrace is quite cramped and does not really lend itself to a relaxing chill in the sun after a walk around the Medina/square like other Riads.
As mentioned they do give a good low down on what to do and not worth doing, where's good to eat and the real cost of taxi's etc. Definitely eat at the food stalls they recommend.

If you stay here ask for one of the upstairs rooms, they are better/larger.
If on a budget and you want to spend money on trips and other things, but be close to the square and want help on a first visit then I would recommend this place. For 3 or 4 days max. if you like a bit of comfort and quality then spend a little more on another Riad.

What can you say about a place where you don’t know and what to expect, but this beautiful
Place took all this worry away from us, i was blown away by the service and hospitality.

All hotels in this world need Kenza; Kenza is your host, meter greater, local knowledge guild, waiter, someone to talk to, everything you can thing about.

As soon as we arrived we was treated like royalty, Loved it from start to finish.

I cannot flow this place at all.

Keep up the good work and trust me you will not be disappointed at all,

Just a short walk away from the square very safe.
I can go on and on about this place but you will only understand me if you visit this place and know what I mean.
From all my family thank you very much Kenza
