“What a beautiful, peaceful place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

My daughter and I have recently returned from Kasbah Carracalla and we loved it. Such a lovely hotel. Whilst being quite isolated, it wasn't a problem as we were collected and taken back to the airport and Marrakech centre was a 25 minute taxi ride away. The owners and staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very much at home. The food was really lovely, freshly prepared delicious Moroccan food. The lunchtime snack menu was also very good. Our room was decorated in traditional Moroccan style and extremely clean. We went at the end of October and the weather was beautiful. The pool was excellent and there were plenty of very comfortable sunbeds. We went into Marrakech one evening to the markets which was good fun, but it was lovely to get back to the tranquility of the hotel. We were there for 3 nights and it went too quickly! We will definitely go back. Also, the massage I had that was included in the price I paid, was the best one I've ever had!

We stayed for 6 nights at this hotel through Groupon and it was very good value. We booked one night through Prestigia in order to accommodate our flights. It is a family run hotel and serves very good home cooked food. The rose gardens and views of the Atlas Mountains are beautiful and it is an ideal spot to get away from it all. The hotel is pretty isolated and although a free shuttle is provided daily, it only runs once a day in the morning and returns 7 hours later. It would be better if there were two shuttles a day. The family and staff are very friendly and helpful and the suite was comfortable, furnished in Moroccan style. There was a lovely pool, although unheated. The hotel and grounds were kept spotlessly clean. We had a 30 minute massage included with the Groupon deal and both purchased further massages. Apart from the pool and the masseuse there were few facilities. A good hotel for a stop over or a short break. I wish the family well.

I have just come back from a 3 night stay at this hotel through groupon. It's a beautiful hotel, the location is stunning and very peaceful.

We loved the time we spent in the city but appreciated the chance to relax at the hotel. It meant we got the perfect balance. The distance from the city is not a problem, taxis are cheap and the hotel are helpful with bookings etc. In fact the location is a selling point with amazing views.

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, they are all so helpful and make the trip so relaxing.

Thank you carly

I had and still have very mixed feelings about this hotel. When I read other reviews like "a jewel" or "a paradise" I get to think "people, have ever been in any other hotel"?

It is a great place for those, who want to spend a quiet time at the back of beyond. The hotel is far from everything, very quiet and, indeed, you can maximally relax without shouting people around. Problems start when you want to go to Marrakech. It is 29km far, and even though the hotel promisses free daily shuttles to the city it is fixed by hour (only in the morning and in the afternoon) and you can forget about it if they have no business in the city. So there come hidden costs, cause you have no other choice than ordering a taxi through the hotel, which costs about 20 euro. The hotel promisses these are special prices already negotiated for their clients, but if you go to Marrakech and huggle yourself with taxi drivers it appears that you can easily have a ride for 15 euros or maybe even less. Free shuttle, ahaaam...

Rooms are decorated in traditional style using traditional materials, which means that the bed squeeks unbelievably (although was very comfy), doors are not srtight, furniture doors hard to open, taps wobbling. What they called suite, for europen standars was just a little anteroom, bedroom and bathroom. No sofa, not even a luggage commode. We paid for suite, we got just a bedroom with bathroom. There was supposed to be a tv in the room - didn't find any. The rooms were nicely cleaned every day, though.

Wi-Fi is present, very slooooow and sometimes doesn't work. But with some patiency it was enough to check e-mail box.

Another thing is that we went there with groupon deal - 6 nights, HB food, welcome drink, hammam and massage included. There has never been any welcome drink nor a hammam. We only got 30 min massage (very nice, btw). So they tend to promiss things they don't do...

The food was great (though expensive if you had to pay for it separately - european prices). Fresh, home made, served elegantly, and very tasty! This together with room services made me give higher score. Comparing to other hotels I had been to, this one is of a poor quality. And these shuttles that are supposed to be given but often are not, gosh. You besically get stuck there, or you pay fortune for taxies. A budget holiday ended up being not so budget any more...

I recommend the hotel for everybody, who wants to hide in the middle of nowhere, in piece and quiet, not move anywhere, get good food and doesn't mind squeecky furniture. For all the rest, those who like some attractions once in a while or who would like to go out, do trips, see the city, it will be annoying that either you have to get up for an early breakfast to be on time for a morning shuttle or you have to organize your own (paid) transport.

I had been to worse hotels, but this one is still at the bottom of my list. Never again.

Room Tip: Kessala is not a suite, just a bedroom + bathroom. Zwina has a little living, is better and quieter...

Firstly, we thank you for choosing our hosts’ house.

We would like to let you know that we are attentive to all appreciations of our customers.
The objective that we settled is to improve our service in offering them a nice stay in a typical environment of this region in Morocco.
We noticed that your remarks mainly concern the transfer between our host house and the city of Marrakech which we confirm assuming free of charge by a daily shuttle in the morning with return at the end of the afternoon.
This shuttle allows our hosts who wish to take advantage of the animation and the beauty of the city.
As everybody can imagine it could not be possible to plan one shuttle for every customer.
But hosts who want to be free in their move can hire a car as we proposed you dear customer…
Concerning taxi, we think that 20 € for 29 Km is cheap because the taxi can take you where you wish. This point is clearly informed in our descriptive brochure and allows everyone to decide according to the kind of activity wished during his stay.
As for other expected service, the contents are established and clear with our partners tour operators.
The welcoming drink was offered to you as we offer it to all our customers.
Concerning the massage also offered we are happy to see that you have been pleased as you were concerning the quality, freshness of our Moroccan cooking.

About furniture, it is typically Moroccan. If you found it squeaky, it means that you confuse modern and traditional.
Maybe, you had to make a choosing for an hotel in Marrakech city because you are not looking for relaxing!
Sorry to deceive you.
As we indicated it to you in introduction our objective is to offer to our customers a different stay which allows them quite at the same time to discover the animation of the city of Marrakech, and to appreciate the serenity, the wonderful view over surrounding mountains in our hosts house.

We went for a quiet 4 day break it was just what we needed the food was amazing all fresh home cooked now we love morocan food..
We have been in many hotels this was one of the best a family run small hotel very willing to help with anything .
Lovely peace and quiet with fab food what else could you ask for 5 stars.
We had a groupon it was great value so cheap just for the food alone it should have cost more.
The hotel is in the middle of fruit trees and fields of vegtables and crops we are glad it was off the beaten track .
The guy who drives shuttle car is great he stopped off at a shop for us to buy lights from a shop at the side of the road this shop gave us a demo on how the pottery is done .
we would love to be able to return to this hotel one day i hope it is the same cook.

What can I see other than: 'People, check this place out!!!'

We were a bit worried about it being half an hour from Marrakech, but we turned out relieved to have booked this hotel and not a riad in the city.
Kasbah Caracalla lies in the middle of nowhere, and is a very relaxing hotel. Great place to come back to after a busy and hot day in the city.

The staff all go out of their way to make you comfortable. Food was amazing and service in general was superb.

We were in room Melha and it was huge! They turned the sitting area in another double bed, and we still had loads of space left for all our bags, our pushchair and a daughter who loves to run around like crazy.

They are redecorating the hotel at the moment (the architect was there when we were) and it's going to be lovely I'm sure! They were painting at the time and it already was a big improvement.

We can't recommend this place enough! You're looking for a home away from home and away from the busy city, this is the place!

This holiday was booked via a groupon voucher and we went without any expectations but just as a relaxing holiday. The staff were exceptionally polite and so helpful throughout the week. The staff were always willing to go out of there way to help us and make our stay more comforting.

The Hotel is Situated in a very nice peaceful part of Kasbah with shuttles travelling to Marrakesh for free during the day. The Food was really good and on some nights eating outside was wicked overlooking the beautiful views of the mountain. This holiday turn't out to be an amazing holiday and will definitely go back in the near future.
