“A jewel in the Medina of Marrakech for a thousand and one days and nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2010

One can easily get lost in the number and variety of Riads offered in Marrakech... and we were thrilled when we discovered this magnificent Riad in the center of the Medina of Marrakech... Just a few minutes walk from the central and lively square of Djemaa el Fna, and located in the middle of the souks. This Riad is certainly among the very best just from the location. And despite its central position in the middle of the Medina and the busy activity of the souks surrounding the area, once you enter the Riad, incredibly, an absolute silence is welcoming you, and you feel as if you were a thousand miles from any city... The Riad has been restored according to Moroccan tradition and colors, decorated with style and a lot of personal touch... the rooms are wonderful. We stayed in the wonderful Djalila Suite with its mezzanine double bed and large bathroom, and a typical Moroccan private lounge. We visited the three other rooms, and each presented its own style and charm. So no matter what room you choose, you won't be disappointed. We only had three full days and four nights in Marrakech, and could have easily spent another week just in this city without getting bored. This is an incredibly lively city and we just walked with the flow of the people… getting lost in the infinite number of little paths and roads of the Medina at all hours of the day and night… I left the best for last… because, not only was everything in the Riad perfect, the staff really made this visit and stay at the Riad even better. Anisa and Abdelatiff were always there to help us organize and guide us through our visit of the town, to welcome us with the traditional and delicious tea, to talk and discuss their culture and share their life experience, even to accompany us for some expert price haggling in the souks, or to organize for a masseuse or for a henna tattoo, etc… they were so incredibly friendly and helpful… and sincere… friends really. Pierre and Fatima, the owners were also there for our last day, and they made our stay even better in every sense of the term. Anyway, I would recommend a visit to Marrakech to my best friends, and there is no hesitation about where to stay!!! Enjoy!

“Loved the Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2007

Got back from a 4 night stay in the Riad Habib a few weeks ago. The riad is in a quiet street in the Mouassine district of the Medina. It is just a few minutes walk from the souks and the main square.

Our room (Fatima) was clean and tidy with a particularly comfortable bed (firm) which suited my aching back. The room was tidied every day.

The riad is well furnished in traditional Moroccan style. However I suspect that it was part of the first wave of foreign owned riads and this probably explains why the riad is now looking a little tired. There is some peeling paint, cracks in the walls and loose plaster work but this should not put off potential visitors. I am sure it will not be long before the Swiss owners undertake some redecoration work.

The riad’s slight air of shabbiness is more than main up by the attitude of the staff. Amina, the manager, and her staff where perfect hosts – very friendly, attentive and keen to meet our needs. All spoke a little English - with Amina speaking very good English – although she didn’t think so herself!

  • Liked — Traditiional deco, great staff and firm bed
  • Disliked — In need of redecoration
