“Excellent all-inclusive hotel for French or Dutch speaking people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We had a wonderfull vacation. The resort is very good (meals excellent, wines good, brand soda's (so no fake coke's and sprite etc) friendly helpfull staff. We did not have to pay roomtaxes (I think seeing the reviews before it depends on your travel organization. Every hour you could do another activity/sports (zumba classes, trapeze, mountainbiking, arab cooking class etc). On the day of check out you can freely use the facilities including drinks and meals untill you leave. You don't have to wear an all inclusive bracelet thank god. But this resort is excellent for French and Dutch speaking people. The animation is in French and Dutch (Dutch people have their only animation program which was very good). So if you don't speak French there is not much animation (ofcourse sports you can always do). I would also recommend using the Hamman in Marrakech instead of the hotel which costs ofcourse much more.

Welcoming and relaxing hotel. All inclusive , with good choice of food and drink. Rooms a good size and service was excellent.. We booked excursions through the hotel, and these proved to be good value and enjoyable. The free shuttle bus from the hotel to marrakech, was useful although the driver did attempt to foist a guide on us on arrival in town. Marracech was an interesting place, mainly as an example of continuos harassment to buy tat, but worth a visit never the less.

Spent seven nights at this hotel and could have stayed longer. We experienced no language problems, as all the staff that we came in contact with could speak English, in fact the Manager walked around the grounds each day asking all his guests whether everything was o.k. The food was of a good quality always with different dishes and the buffet area was kept immaculately clean. The wine was very acceptable and the service was always good.
Our room was spotlessly clean and everything worked well. We enjoyed eating our meals outside especially in the evening as it was very romantic and you could sit there all evening without being disturbed.

Room Tip: We had room 1114 which we had no problems with and it was a short walk from reception

This is a French-speaking smoker-friendly resort of perhaps 20 years old, set about 10km from Marrakech town centre.

Some positives:
- 2 good sized pools. One that is for adults only and the other that is open to all (with a small kids pool adjacent). Both have a bar for drinks very close by
- the pool areas were hosed down daily & staff walked around regularly to collect glasses
- you are entitled to a free lunch on the day of check-in or out
- ample supply of free bottled water

Negatives:
- service at the outside tables in the buffet is terrible (but marginally better inside). Dirty tables don't get cleaned for some time so you just have to stack everything up until finally it is cleared or you clear it yourself (often simpler). Water & wine will come eventually (but patience is needed - we were at the end of our main course one evening before either arrived)
- the table linen is grim. It gets a flick with the hand or is turned over. Some have stains that are simply engrained, others are just dirtied with the debris from earlier use. They need desperately to give up using filthy linen and switch to paper or buy more cloths & get a decent launderer
- same applies to towels & bed linen. Old stains & the smell of who-knows-what are common place. One day we got some that looked fairly clean but it was the exception. The pillows were stained and well passed their best too
- we reported the broken shower bracket on day 2 but it was never fixed. You could hold the shower head or do a balancing act on the remnants of the old bracket
- the fridge in the room wasn't working
- if it's been a few years since you did French at school, brush up before you go! There are one or two staff who speak English, but they are few and far between. They are proud French speakers!

Neutral:
- the food was clean but very middle-of-the-road and repetitive. Pasta at lunch became cream coated baked pasta at dinner. The deserts were almost identical daily. The fruit offering at breakfast was surprisingly bad – it was roughly chopped oranges every day
- hold your breath (literally) if you want a smoke-free location. The Argine bar next to reception, the indoor buffet and reception itself are non smoking but elsewhere they puff away constantly
- shame the free wifi is only in reception, it would be great to have it in any of the bars or poolside as others now do. The wifi is easy to connect to, but the internet is variable

We stayed at the Club Eldorador, Palmerie, Marrakech in July 2012. There were 6 of us as a large family with children from 15 to 20 yrs old. I have to characterise this hotel as "nearly there". There were so many things they did resasonably well and nearly good enoughto deserve a better rating...but not quite. I base this on staying in 4 to 5 hotels a month as a business traveller.

Upon arrival I was quite impressed with the reception area - but the rooms weren't ready. We had lunch and were then given the rooms - 2 of them. Despite having booked and paid for 3 it was a bit of a struggle to get a 3rd room. Their view was that 2 rooms was enough for 6 people. This was the first time we encountered the language problem. I spent quite good French, as does my wife. However, a hotel desperately trying to attract the English must have an english speaker available somewhere - they did not. It also transpired that they found our French hard to comprehend (I don't have that problem in France) and it was..difficult. And do not have a problem around sunset during Ramadam as they will shout at you and tell you it is their mealtime so why are you calling them. Now, if you wish to follow a religion, thayt's fine, but Ramadam is their problem not mine. In a service industry you give service no matter when, where or how it is needed.

The rooms were adequate...nearly good. But; my electronic door lock did not work so I had to carry a large key and fob everywhere. My daughters aircon flowed water liberally on the floor and she had an ant infestation. The hotel response? Switch off the aircon - it was 40 deg outside - and sweep the ants away. My sons' shower would not work if anyone else was having a shower on a lower floor. The towels are collected in the morning, laundered, and returned in the late afternoon. When you are leaving at 2 and want a shower at 12 expect no towel.

Meals were ok. Yes, the food can become a bit monotonous, but there is a good choice of well prepared food.

The pool and leisure facilities are good. Drinks are vailable all day - except that all, including water, is served in very small plastic cups and it is very hard to stay hydrated without standing in a constant queue. A little more effort to keep the flies out of the drink bottles might not go amiss.

The animation team are hard working, if a little attentive to young ladies staying at the hotel. The evening entertainment is pretty pants, though, and well worth a miss.

As I said, this is so close to being good but they score own goals that could be easily avoided and miss out. A little more effort and I would have said good to very good.

Great family holiday or couple hotel with a wealth of stuff to do. There are two pools a lively big pool near the buffet restaurant which boasts music and DJ all day long and where the activities, aqua aerobics etc take place and another large pool which is nearer the blocks of rooms which is quieter - no music- and much favoured when we were there by French couples with delightfully well-behaved young children.
Being no great fan of buffet meals except maybe at breakfast I found the buffet food here very food indeed. Tasty tagines of chicken and vegetable - fries as only the French can do and at lunch time a barbecue with a couple of chefs serving lamb kebabs and chicken pieces and even steak one day In the fact the only dining experience here which I was not so happy with was the a la carte open air restaurant. The food came from the same place but they serve the same menu every day it seems at the a la carte and our three course meal came at us fast and furiously - all over in about 30 minutes. (What do we do the rest of the evening??)
There is a strong French flavour to this hotel which I adored. The staff are friendly and speak a little English in some cases and fluent in others. We were happy to practise our French speaking skills poor though they are.there is a bar inside the hotel and plenty of staff in it who mix cocktails and know what they are doing. Anyone coming to the bar speaking English got treated as respectfully as anyone speaking Arabic or French. Around the pool are open air bars in the day time where you can also have teas or coffees as well as all the usual soft drinks. Being a predominantly Muslim country alcoholic drinks are not available everywhere but there was no problem here. The wine was quite acceptable and I liked the Moroccan beer a lot.

The room we had was a little tired in our block but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom although needing a face fit had shower and bath etc and it all worked well as did the air con which is adjustable in the room and the tv box with a number of foreign channels like BBC World Service and RTL. Talking of air con boy did we need it! In May this year (2012) they were having a heatwave. In the 80's to 90's Fahrenheit.
We booked through Travelzoo and it was very in-expensive for flights and all inclusive hotel accomodation. So we were not expecting the degree of comfort and service which we got.
Only one little grumble and I mentioned it to the tour guy when we were there - the guide on the half day tour we bought for about 40 dollars a head was too interested in taking us to emporiums to shop even when all six of us in the mini bus said we were not interested in shopping but in seeing the Atlas Mountains and the countryside. He was quite put out and on the way back did no commentary and had the driver turn off the air con. When we said it was getting kinda hot he opened the two windows at the front - so we arrived back at the hotel sweaty and dust covered. Maybe we should have bought a tagine at one of the stores he said we shouldn't miss??

My boyfriend and I went here in June on a travelzoo deal and the hotel exceeded all of our expectations. We paid £250 each for 4nights, flights and all inclusive food and drink, activities and entertainment. For what we received we would definitely have paid more. The food choices were really good and you could book into the Italian restaurant or Morrocan restaurant if you wanted a set menu rather than a buffet. All alcoholic drinks were included (local drinks that is) and there was a nightclub that was open to 2 in the morning.

As other reviews have mentioned it is a predominantly French hotel but there was a dedicated member of staff that spoke English and all other members of staff were friendly. I would recommend brushing up on your french to ask for drinks etc but to be honest that was part of the fun - we had gone to another country so didn't expect to have an English experience.

In the evening the entertainment was in French and English so that all guests could take part. I would definitely recommend the Morroccan entertainment night (Wed night), it was awesome.

The hotel has a number of excursions that you can go on. We went on the 4x4 drive into the Atlas mountains and this included visiting a local village and going into a house and being treated to a traditional tea ceremony. I would recommend this. A number of guests also visited the waterfuls and foothills of the Atlas mountains and they were really pleased with these tours.

Before we went there we looked at the map and saw it was 30mins outside Marrakech and we were dissappointed, however, when we arrived we were actually really happy to be situated there. It meant we could chill by the pool when we wanted and chose when to go into Marrakech for the hub bub. nb the shuttle bus is a bit random - it is an old rachety bus that looks quite comical. It was free though and safe so we could not ask for much more.

There is also a Morrocan Hamman / spa place. I had the Morrocan treatment which I thought included a massage and it didn't, so I was a bit gutted but this is the only example of things getting lost in translation.

The room was lovely and the bathroom was like something out of Indiana Jones. The hotel building has a traditional style and we got some good pictures of us there.

All in all we loved it and if the deal came up again we would return just to chill by the pool and relax.

Thank you to the hotel for giving us such a wonderful holiday :) :) :)
