The Es Saadi Palace is an oasis of friendliness and graciousness, serenity and refinement, with a quality of service that is second to none.
The architecture of the building and the design of the interior are eyecatching, and there is an array of excellent local handiwork and handicraft throughout the building: handwoven carpets and sumptuous fabrics, tiles and mosaics, woodcarving and metalwork, and original paintings. In the lobby one can listen to soft exotic music played by a musician while sipping freshly brewed mint tea.
The hotel is set in a tranquil tropical garden of palms and palmettos, orange and pomegranate trees, roses and bougainvilleas, which surround a large freeform lagoon pool with an island bar. Parasols and very comfortable sunloungers surround the lagoon, and large soft towels are provided for swimmers. There are two other swimming pools: one outside and another in the spa, both heated. The spa provides a sensual sanctuary with a comprehensive range of pampering beauty treatments, massages, thermae, and a traditional hammam; and there is a superbly equipped fitness room. The hotel, garden and pools are immaculately upkept by a large team of staff.
The generous buffet breakfast is laid out in a restaurant that opens onto a garden terrace, and guests can eat inside or at the tables outside. Delicious light meals are available in the Bio du Bled and the Lagon & Jardin restaurants, and there are two bars.
Dining in the Cours des Lions restaurant is a memorable experience. The talented chef and his excellent team of kitchen staff provide a delicious feast of tagines, couscous and artistically presented desserts. Dining at a table on the terrace affords a view of Marrakech as the night sky darkens and the city lights come on; and dining inside allows one to feel the breeze wafting through the doors that open onto the terrace. The impeccably trained waiters, the stunning decor, soft music, candles, beautiful tableware and very comfortable chairs enhance the dining experience. This is very fine dining indeed.
Staying in a spacious suite with a balcony overlooking the gardens allows for a truly restful stay. My superbly appointed executive suite had a luxurious bathroom; a dressing room; a sumptuous four-poster bed; a dining table set with complementary wine, bottled water, fruit, and honey cakes; a desk; two large televisions; a wonderfully comfortable divan; handwoven carpets; and fully adjustable airconditioning; and the balcony was furnished with a sunlounger, a table and two chairs.
Overall, the Es Saadi Palace is a base for exploring the exotic city of Marrakech and is a place for indulgent relaxation.
