“3 Nights in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We loved this place ! The Riad is an oasis of calm and tranquility in the craziness of the `medina. It lies in the heart of the souk - surrounded by bustling streets. `it's therefore really hard to get to - you wouldn't do it without a guide. The Riad is very unassuming on the outside - but inside is beautiful . The staff speak French, though Hamid the Manager speaks some English. The staff are attentive and kind. The breakfast basic continental. The meals however are superb ( don't be put off by the slightly odd looking menu with pictures of dishes on it !!) Quite simply the best food and the best value we tasted in Marrakech.
The rooms are traditional and extremely stylish and well appointed. The roof terrace is a lovely place to be on a hot afternoon - the souks much easier to watch from the roof than to explore on foot.
Would certainly return. Next time I'd ask Hamid to provide us with a guide however. It is very easy to get lost !

The Medina is not for the feint hearted, the location is North of the inner walls of the old city. The streets are a great experience and people are mainly friendly, there are the few that hassle you on your walks, we felt like being on an epic film set like Raiders of the lost Arc. Once the doors open to the Riad (our hotel) the serenity and beauty of the place made up for the streets. A small oasis on the middle of an old city, the furniture, ambiance and tranquility was an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of the market place. Rooms are good, beds comfortable and cosy, very clean all round.
The breakfast is basic continental platter of bread and jams, however the evening dinner is highly recommended for price, value and taste, you will not find better in the medina, we booked half board for three nights and was the cost of eating two lunches out during the day of poor standard.
The staff don't speak English, but Hamid the manager does and helps out where possible, very friendly and chatty. If you need anything ask him!
It was a birthday weekend and the hotel made special room preparations and food for the occasion, which was a nice personal touch. The pool area was closed during our stay due to the season.

Room Tip: Only 6 rooms in the Riad- However all rooms looked the same, ask for downstairs room if you don'...

A peaceful, relaxing oasis in a very busy, bustling city.We could not have been made to feel more welcome and staff were wonderful. It is stunning and yet simple and comfortable.Would highly recommend it if you want to experience living in the heart of Moroccan life but able to retreat when you wanted to.

This riad was located in the heart of the medina and only accessed by foot ... We paid for a transfer from the airport and they taxi you as far as they can go then walk you the rest of the way I would highly recommend paying for this service as the riad is pretty difficult to find.
Everyone at the riad is lovely ... The rooms are not luxurious llbut very comfortable and clean. We ate once in the riad and it was delicious. There are plenty of other restaurants in walking distance.
On one of the days Hamid the manager of the riad arranged for a guide (Youssef) to come and take us around the city we learnt so much it was definitely worth the money (roughly £35).Hamid also arranged for a driver to take us to the Atlas Mountains again a reasonable price and well organised
They left flowers in my room on my birthday which was very kind.

We had a good time in Marrakech its a real culture shock, we met some nice people along the way and if you stay in the dar alhambra you will be well looked after it is a calm oasis after the madness of the streets of Marrakech

Stayed here for 5 days & was really impressed with the hotel, location, staff & food. The interior is simply stunning & not what you would expect when entering from the street. This is not to say it is opulent but ouzes style & class for it's simplicity & comfort.

Located in the working heart of Medina near the Ben Yousef Mosque & a 10 minute walk from Jena Al Fena (Main Square), it is ideally located. If you want a bland European style hotel, then this is not for you but if you want a genuine Marrakech experience, you will love it.

Although Morroco is a muslim country, alcohol is available & reasonably priced (£7.50 - £10.00 per bottle of wine), which is available with your evening meal (£23 two course meal for two), We ate at the hotel & the meal was excellent but if you do want a change there are dozens of local places offering great Morrocan cuisine within short walking distance.

The Staff, fronted by Hamid could not have been better or more helpful with nothing too much hassle for them & gave the impression that they wanted you to feel at home.

For those needing to keep in touch with home, free WiFi (surprisingly quick) is available & proved invaluable as we were there for the UK Swanwick hiccup.

Lastly be prepared for a 5 minute walk from the nearest vehicle accessible street when you check in & out, although for us, this all added to the experience, which is off-the-wall for Europeans.

Extremely pleased you enjoyed your visit! Actually, if you contact the Riad manager Hamid, he can organise a mini-taxi that takes you directly to the door of the Riad at nearly any time that suits you - please contact Hamid via email:CONTACT@DARALHAMBRA.COM

Just returned from a visit to Marrakech, we stayed here for 4 nights, it is beautiful. The food is good, the rooms amazing, the staff friendly and the location is great. When we first saw the street we wondered where we had come to but when the door opened the riad exceeded our expectations. Not much more I can say, we'll worth a visit.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

Our 4 night stay in Marrakech was considerably enhanced by Hamid and his team for whom nothing appeared to be too much trouble, including the wonderful meal we were given on the evening we arrived. Hamid was exceptionally helpful in organising trips and taxis . All arrangements made by him were faultless. Excellent suites and a beautiful roof terrace which gave us fabulous views of the city and helped us to orientate ourselves amidst the labyrinthine medina.
