“Exactly what we wanted...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The reviews are true- Riad Vert is everything you would want, plus more.
The location is slightly away from the extreme hustle and bustle of the souks and the main squares but this is a good thing! It's only a 20 min walk to these areas, and its an interesting walk where you get to see others aspects of daily life. A few reviews haven mentioned the distance, but believe, it is not a problem. For after dark, Sanaa provides you with a phone number for Ahmed, a taxi driver who will meet you at a set place an drop you closer to the riad than other taxis will- and all at a set price. During the day, it's a straightforward walk to get to where you need to be.
The actual raid is beautiful. Relaxing, clean, gorgeously decorated and a really welcome place to return to at the end of the day. The breakfasts are simple and delicious, and made when you're ready (which was quite late for us in the morning as we slept sooooo well).
We had the room that opened up onto the terrace. The room was a good size and extremely comfortable. It was like our own little Moroccan retreat. The only thing I will mention was that there was a family staying there at the time and when they were in the common area/terrace their noise filtered directly into our room. Having said that, we were so exhausted at the end if each day that we were able to sleep through it.
As everyone else has said, the food is delicious and well worth a try. We wouldn't normally eat at our accommodation, preferring to see what else was on offer, but we had dinner at the riad a few times and were not disappointed. Just think about it makes my mouth water...
Sanaa organised us a day tripo into the Atlas Mountains. It was just the two of us, plus our English speaking driver. Of course, you stop in at the obligatory carpet place along the way, but you also get to see a a place where they grow and sell herbs they use to make teas, ointments and oils. Once we were there, the driver found us a guide for a walk up into the mountains. You can go as far as the first waterfall, or scramble up the rocks further for a longer, and much more scenic walk. It's well worth it and one of the highlights of our trip. I would say hat make sure you understand the costings of the day. We thought we paid for everything, all at once to Sanaa, but it's turns out the guide for our walk and lunch was not included. We didn't have to have lunch at the Berber village but we couldn't resist the riverside location location... And it turned out to be one of our nicest lunches.

I would definitely stay at Riad Vert again, without a doubt. It's one of those places you would see in an interior design magazine and think to yourself 'where are these places? I'll never get to stay in something I've that!' But you can- Riad Vert is that place and you couldn't want a better place to return to each day.

Thank you to Sanaa for giving us the right directions and greeting us with a smile each morning and night. It's so immensely appreciated.

Room Tip: Our downstairs room only had one small window onto the terrace... But this allowed for a dark room w...

“A little bit of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

One of the nicest place I have ever stayed in. It is a haven of peacefulness, away from the madness of the outside world. The rooms are all individually designed and oh so tastefully decorated. The owners Isabelle and Dominic have created a home from home along with there wonderful staff Sanaa, Aziza, Fatima and Ayesha. I went there as part of a group and they looked after us with patience and professionalism helping us to make decisions on where to eat and what to see when we could not make up our minds. The walk to and from the Jeema el fna was interesting each time we did it never the same route twice. The walk took you past daily Marrakech life nothing touristy but I always let very safe. Taxis are available and can be arranged by the Riad. Trips out we're also arranged. The taxi drivers and minibus drivers were equally as helpful and friendly as the Raid staff. This was my first trip to Marrakech but won't be my last and the only place I would stay will be the Riad Vert.

Room Tip: I have clicked on the last two items by mistake there is not a fitness centre and we had no children...

“A little gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

You know when your accomodation doesn't quite match up to those enigmatic professional photographs you viewed on the internet, well Riad Vert is certainly NOT one of those. This little gem of a Riad far exceeded our expectations, it is tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious, and a tranquil escape from the chaotic hubbub of the Medina directly outside its doors.

We travelled as a party of eight to celebrate my birthday and took four of the seven rooms available. Each room has it's own charm and we were all smitten with our individual accomodation. The public areas are traditional yet stylish and Isabel's good taste is evident throughout the Riad. The roof terrace is divine! There are a lot of steps but my 84 year old father made it up them (although he did have the bedroom on the ground floor which is worth considering if you struggle). Though the Riad is not in the tourist area of the Medina, it is a short taxi ride to Jemaa el fna if you'd rather not get lost in the maze of alleyways. That said, it is an interesting walk to the Souks and the square, and is not very far once you get your bearings; I always felt safe. It's worth keeping a few coins or a small note to give to the many locals who will offer their services as a guide should you lose your way!

The staff are wonderful. Azziza, last to bed and first to rise, who crept around making sure we had everything we needed and always had a gentle smile. The lovely Sanna put up with the varying needs of a mixed age party, with patience and a sense of humour. She advised us on everything, booked restaurants, taxis, trips and the Hammam (a must do!) and had the grace to compliment us on ther bargains we had secured at the Souk even when we knew we could have got a better price! Fatima cooked us the most delicious meals, even preparing something in advance before returning to cook for her family during Eid. She provided us with the tastiest Morrocan dishes we would experience during our stay. Aicha, with her cheeky smile, tidied and cleaned up after us and kept the Riad spotless. Isabel and Dominic have chosen all their staff wisely and everything runs seamlessly. Riad Vert feels like a home from home.

If you like your accomodation to have a plasma TV, power shower and wired in hairdryer and rate it on the quality of the toiletries you stash in your suitcase to come home, Riad Vert isn't for you. This was my second visit to Marrakech, I found the city magical the first time, this trip I found accomodation to match and I will certainly return to Riad Vert.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter, they're all wonderful, but if you have limited mobility there is a room o...

“Perfect Moroccan Riad - friendly, relaxing and traditional.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

Riad Vert would be highly recommended for any visit in Marrakech. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful - full of useful trips to make sure that you get the most out of your stay! Nothing is too hassle - they take the time to make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive and help you to navigate your travel around Marrakech and organise excursions, taxis etc! The rooms are extremely clean - cleaned on a daily basis and tastefully decorated. The food at the Riad is excellent, due to the culinary skills of Fatima, who cooks a variety of Moroccan meals on a daily basis and never makes a bad dish! I would definitely recommend this Riad to anyone who is planning to visit and hope to return there myself on my next trip!

“"Peace and tranquility in the centre of the Medina"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Our arrival at the Riad Vert was a considerably later in the evening than planned, due to flight delays. We had booked our transfer via the riad and the driver was there to meet us at the airport despite our late arrival. On reaching the riad we were met by Sanna who made us feel so welcome. We registered and were then shown our room and the rest of the riad. After a quick freshen up we sat down to a meal that we had pre-booked.
Sanna was a mine of information and the help and guidance she give us regarding navigating our way around the Medina and sights of Marrakech were invaluable.
It had been our intention to eat at a variety of restaurants in the evenings, but after spending a good proportion of our days walking and sightseeing we were more than happy to return to the tranquility of the riad and have our evening meals there. Fatima delighted us with different dishes each evening and the food was without a doubt the tastiest we have ever had in a hotel. After a relaxed meal we retired to the roof terrace with a bottle of wine and took in the sights and sounds of the northern medina.
All the rooms are individually and tastefully decorated and whilst our room did not have a window it was well lit and with the help of a very efficient air conditioning unit, lovely and cool.
I would most difinitely stay at the Riad Vert in the future and would like to thank Sanna and her team for making our first trip to Marrakech truly memorable.
