“Wonderful respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Dar Zelda is just enough outside the souks to make for a relaxing respite but close enough to be in the fray in no time. Very accommodating staff including their patient driver who met me at the airport late at night due to flight delays. A great start to my Moroccan holiday. Michel even arranged a rental car for me for the next leg of my journey. Would definitely come back again.

Beautiful haven in a mad place, staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly . Even made sandwiches for the journey home, will go back and definitely stay there again. Nice restaurant just around the corner selling wicked cocktails and cold corona which went down a treat

Wonderful little hotel with very attentive and helpful management and staff. We loved the friendly atmosphere, the inclusive olives, water and fresh orange juice and the superb roof top terrace. Make sure to have a look at their master suite and its fantastic interior design, even if you don't stay in there.

Brandon was very easy to work with and very pleasant even when I had to keep updating the confirmation because we were a group that kept making changes, he was very sweet about it all.

The riad was beautiful, clean and welcoming. Michael and the local staff were all very helpful and kind. We were a hectic group of 5 women with very few hours to spend in Marrakesh and with no experience of the area. Brandon was able to arrange for a tour to Ourika Valley which was really nice and we highly recommend. Michael was able to put together a box lunch for us to take along since we were so limited on time and it was all delicious.

The riad rooms were very nice and well appointed. The facility was clean and the views from the rooftop were super. The riad is hidden in the tiny streets of the medina, very hard to find if you are a first timer however the taxi driver can call the riad and they will help out easily. The taxi cannot make it all the way to the door because the alleys are too tight however there is always a porter with a wagon near by that can carry your luggage to/from the riad and the taxi so don't let the location deter you from staying at this beautiful riad.

You can sit and relax on the rooftop, get a little sunning time in, check your emails with free wifi and just relax and enjoy the views. Breakfast includes eggs, bread, coffee, tea, etc, all served on the rooftop in a beautiful setting. There is also room to do your yoga!!

Room Tip: Let them know if you need separate beds and they can modify the room configuration for you. The King...

We just returned from a long weekend in Dar Zelda. We arrived in the hustle and bustle of the Medina from the taxi arranged through the Riad. Entering the Riad is like entering a another world from the medina, it's quiet and peaceful. We had a fantastic tagine that night and enjoyed a drink on the beautiful roof terrace. We had trip to the seaside which was good, but much more worth while is visiting the Atlas mountains.

We stayed in the grand suite room which was incredible. I thought it put the Bahais Palace (one of the main sites) to shame.

As with everywhere in Marrakesh, you are never far from a minaret of a mosque. So expect to hear the call to prayer at around 5.30am. This was not a big deal for us as we easily went back to sleep in our beautiful rooms.

Room Tip: Grand Suite was incredible. a 2 bedroom paradise!

We booked the airport transfer for 15 euros and as expected we were picked up from the airport by a taxi. Disappointingly the taxi did not have any seatbelts (which we found was generally the case in marrakech), the taxi then dropped us off in place moukef and introduced us to a man who he told us would show us the rest of the way to the riad, as the streets are so narrow.
On arrival at the riad we found that we were then expecting to pay this man 200 dirhams. We questioned this with the staff at the riad as we were under the impression that we had paid for transfer from the airport to the riad, but they encouraged us to pay. We were quite disappointed with this as we felt we had been duped.
From this point the riad was a nice place to stay, in a great central location, but not much more.
We were provided with food each morning which was really nice, and the rooftop terrace was a perfect place to start the day. The general cleanliness of the riad was a bit poor.
Whenever we asked for information Michel or the girls working for him were very keen to help, but we weren't provided with much information without seeking it.
On our last day the card machine was broken, so we had to pay with cash which was a bit inconvenient as we had to go to the square to get quite a large amount of cash out. I understand that this may have been unavoidable but it did make things quite difficult for us on our last day.

Michel and his team give you a warm welcome, you feel like at home!
The interior is sophisicated, sylish with very nice traditional elements. The Girls working at Dar Zelda are nice and extremly helpful. Breakfest or lunch on the Terasse is a dream!
The location of the Riad is in the Medina and easy to find, convinient close to the souks.
We liked our stay very much and recomend Dar Zelda as a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: go for the Douria Suite with a over twohunderd year old wooden ceiling - pure 1001 night feeling
