“A unique, luxurious and friendly place to stay in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2010

Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms with many special touches which made our stay memorable and one we will want to repeat. Lovely friendly staff and good service. Very convenient location and so unbelievably quiet at night! The ambiance of the whole riad is very good, with many unique features and we felt instantly at home. Very relaxing to return to after a couple of hours exploring the Medina and souks, or after a satisfying lunch for some sun and relaxation on the lovely, spacious roof terrace. Loved the candles lit in our room each evening and the excellent iPod sound system. Definitely going back as soon as we can!

We spent 3 nights at the wonderful Maison MK and it thoroughly lived up to all our expectations. From the warm welcome on arrival, to the delicious food ( breakfast in particular) and the very well appointed rooms, this luxurious boutique hotel in the heart of Marrakesh was a great way to begin our holiday. We stayed there with our two teenage children, who stayed in the twin room and particularly enjoyed the free internet use and laptop, as well as the ipod in their room! The staff were fantastic, especially the manager Pauline - nothing was too much trouble. She gave us great advice on restaurants and shopping and even sent someone out to buy a plaster for my daughter! The Riad is really well situated for shopping in the Souk, or walking up to the main square and is also easy to get back to in the evening if you decide to go out to dinner.I had a lovely, relaxing massage and my husband had a hamman which he really enjoyed. The hotel was full of great finishing touches, including a mobile phone in case you get lost! We will definitely go back.

My husband and I discovered MaisonMK about a year and a half ago and chose it as the place for our engagement party last year. The service and atmosphere was amazing so we decided to spend yet another meaningful celebration in MK this year, my husband´s birthday.
We just came back from Marrakesh - we were over 50 friends and family and Pauline, Paul and the team took care of us like no other hotel we know - as my husband said "the best birthday of his life".

To keep it short, MaisonMK is the best place to be in Marrakesh, stay there and you will not regret it...I am sure we will be back, not just for a weekend but for another incredible celebration! Its our home away from home.

Went there for a 3 days break with my wife. The Riad is literally 1 min walk from the main square. Staff is always ready to help with bookings and suggestions.
Breakfast is very good and the SPA very nice.
Would definitely recomend this riad.

We spent an amazing Easter weekend at Maison MK with 2 friends. Even though we only had 2 of the 5 rooms it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves such was the service that we received. The rooftop terrace is roomy enough that even if other guests are up there you can find your own piece of heaven. Views brilliant.
Even before we arrived we had a good feeling about it, the manager Pauline helped us to select and book both restaurants and excursions, even being honest with us about some things we had suggested where she felt we were making a mistake. Turned out she was correct. Our day trip across the mountains to a kasbah with Anhil was one of the highlights of our trip.
All the staff were discrete yet marvellous, taxis appeared when required, ice lollies served on the rooftop terrace when it got a little hot. We only ate at the hotel once in the evening but the monkfish tagine was delicious. Sitting on the rooftop with the smoke from the square and the city lights around you was amazing. Breakfast was great too.
The rooms were stunning, with lots of extra touches that had you wrinkling your nose in delight. Pot of coffee placed outside the room pre breakfast, fruit, I Pod and mobile phone for your use, jelly beans on the pillow, lovely toiletries........ Bathrooms were amazing. Sleep only interrupted by the 5am prayer call but if you ensured all the shutters were closed you could sleep through it.
Hotel ideally located just a short walk from one of the city gates which meant you could get a taxi back in the evening and not worry about getting lost in the city streets. A 15 min walk to the main square. That said we never felt threatened.
The girls had a traditional hamman/gommage not as relaxing as we had imagined but certainly an experience!
Maison MK has definitely set the standards by which all my future hotel destinations will be measured. It set us up nicely for a fabulous trip.

FIrst time in Marrakesh and first time in Morroco ... what an experience made all the better by staying in a real oasis of a place. Take note ...the surroundings and the ambience of this Riad are very, very special. Most importantly - the staff make you feel special and are so helpful and welcoming.

Ever stayed in a 5 star hotel and still felt like a number? Well forget that in the case of MK Mason. Literally nothing is too much trouble. Pauline and Hammad who manage the hotel, speak excellent English and have developed the fine art of providing excellent service without being intrusive. We had some problems with luggage not arriving (due to a more complex jouney to Marrakesh because of some cancelled flights with the Volcanic ash problem) and Pauline (who is French) , helped us get our baggage back by doing all the chasing on the phone.

We decided to take a cookery lesson and got the chance to visit the market with the resident chef (Leila) as our guide. We brought our provisions back to the kitchen to cook. What an adventure into Morrocan life and culture and we managed to assemble an authentic chicken tagine and felt quite proud of ourselves as we dined on the terrace.

Did you watch the TV programme "Jamie Does Marrakech"? We saw that Jamie Oliver used the terrace of the MK Maison as one of his cooking locations.

The food here is excellent and if you don't feel like a big evening meal every night there are always tempting bar meals on offer. There is also a small cinema room and a good selection of DVDs.

Marrakech is a busy, bustling and vibrant city. MK Maison is the perfect place to come home to after a busy day in the souks and you can simply chill out.

Recommendations: have dinner at a local restaurant called "Topsil", take a trip to the Atlas mountains, have a piece of Leila's "cake of the day" each afternoon and try the traditional Hammam Spa at the MK Maision or have one of the beauty treatments on offer

This hotel is in an excellent location in the Medina, there are only 6 rooms so it feels exclusive and the interior design is chique but still manages to retain the Morrocean style.
We are definitely going to go back to MK Maison.

We really weren't meant to go at all - I mean, we arrived at Gatwick a little after 4am on Thursday 15th April only to be told that our Easyjet flight was cancelled due to some volcano in Iceland blowing its top..at that time everyone was asking "what volcano?". I was travelling with my best friend and business partner and we had looked forward to this holiday for months as a reward for working long hours in our business. We had spent hours of research looking for the ideal place - away from the crowds yet not miles away from the action. So was a volcano going to stop us now? No. Dodging the ever increasing crowds at Gatwick, we made our way to the BA ticket desk and managed to get the last tickets to Marseille with a quick change to Royal Air Maroc to Marrakech. While we managed to arrive only a couple of hours later than planned, our luggage did not and was sadly still going around the carousel in Marseille airport! However, we were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the Maroccan lost baggage official and made our way to the exit to be greeted by our taxi driver supplied by the MK Maison. This was a nice touch as we've been to plenty of 5 star hotels where you are expected to find your own way to their hotel.

The MK Maison is located within the walls of the Medina and while it all seemed a bit scary when we first got there (although one of the MK Maison staff was waiting for us when the taxi arrived to guide us to the riad), it soon became very familiar and was quite safe to walk about.

The MK Maison took our breath away when we first arrived as suddenly we were in an oasis of calm as soon as we went through the riad door. Our bedroom was beautiful - the simple Marrocon designs and materials looked stunning in that setting. The bathroom was definitely something else - the nicest place I have ever taken a bath I think...in fact I could have lain there for hours if it wasn't for my friend telling me to hurry up as it was her turn!

We stayed for 7 days and in that time got to know the staff really well. One of the highlights was a cookery course taken by Layla, the MK Maison's lady chef. Layla took us out to the market where we bought a chicken (still twitching when it was quartered!) and various vegetables. We conversed in schoolgirl French and lots of hand gestures which was quite funny. Layla taught us to cook baby courgette soup (which we had had the previous evening and it was sublime, so we requested the recipe), a Marrocan chicken tagine and a wonderful coconut tart. Every day, Layla cooked a different cake or tart for the guests and we found ourselves looking forward to 4.30pm each afternoon to see what the day's creation would be - it was always delicious.

The MK Maison also has a small cinema room where you can order freshly made local popcorn if you wish. There are quite a lot of DVDs you can choose from and we also ordered drinks and snacks while we were watching our films - home from home really, but since we were laying outstretched on Maroccan beds and watching what must have been a 60inch screen it felt so much better!

We both had some treatments in the small spa and hamman and they were very good with lovely staff.

In fact, the warm atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings and lovely, attentive staff is what made it very special. It really did feel like a home from home - not like you get with some large anonymous hotel.

Pauline and Hamid, the managers, answered all our questions, recommended and booked places for us to visit and provided everything we asked for. The waiters who served us our breakfast on the terrace were always smiling and nothing was too much trouble.

We found we were able to chill out very quickly and we had one of our best ever holidays (and we have been lucky enough to see a lot of the world and stayed at many top 5 hotels). In fact, thanks to the volcano we had the run of the place to ourselves for 2 days since our fellow guests couldn't fly in...but with only 6 rooms it still would have been quiet even if they could have made it.

So, will we be returning to MK Maison? You betcha!
