“The perfect place for your stay in Fes - a real treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2011

I think more or less everything has been said already in other reviews so I'll be brief: Riad Laaroussa is a real treat if you want to make your stay in Fes something special to remember: beautifully restored Riad, great rooms (we took the grey suite and god it was spacious, with a nice fireplace), very friendly and helpful staff, welcoming and open owners ready to share their experience with you, good suggestions to enjoy the stayin teh best conditions, in brief everything was perfect - warmly recommended!

On arrival at Riad Laroussa two things are immediately apparent; the sheer beauty of the building and the warm reception given by the staff. Sabah met us at the door and showed us to our room. We were due to stay in the Little Brown Room for the first night and the Blue Room for the second - we booked at the last minute for a New Year's Eve stay - but found we had been upgraded to the Blue Room for both nights at no extra charge.

It's the attention to detail that adds to the charm - an iPod playing soothing music, a log fire, incense, and lit candles awaited us after climbing the steep steps to our room. Fred introduced himself later that evening, along with the other members of the team. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff are extremely friendly and approachable.

I would advise booking a one-way transfer with the Riad if it's your first time in Fez, as it's difficult to find in the maze of streets and the taxi can't drop you at the door because it's a pedestrianised zone. On departure - once you've got your bearings - it's easy to walk up to the road and hail a 'petit taxi'.

Riad Laroussa was a fabulous place to start 2011. I would most definitely recommend it.

My husband and I have travelled extensively, business & pleasure, when our expectations are exceeded we believe it important to congratulate the service provider and to promote them to others.
Our itinerary of Morocco included Fes, Merzouga, Skoura, Taroudant, Essaouria & Marakesh. Riad Laarousa was one of our highlights...it's a beautiful decorated, relaxing "boutique-type" riad with exceptional service. The owners Fred and Cathy were great, upon our arrival we had to make a few changes to our travel itinerary due to airline challenges, even though it was last minute Fred arranged a successful day tour and car/driver for the remainder of our trip. This was only made possible due to Fred's connections and relationships with local suppliers. (Highly recommend Said Tyouss-Mini Bus).
The staff were exceptional, everyone we encountered showed a great balance of professionalism and personability. Make sure you stay for dinner and if possible take a cooking class with MeFatima or Samira. And if you wanted help with anything Indie was there to make things happen. Thank you everyone for making our stay at your Riad so delightful.

The Riad Laaroussa is a superbly restored home in the heart of the medina of Fes with a lovely courtyard, beautiful rooms and a rooftop terrace that looks out over the city. It is remarkably quiet and peaceful given the proximity of one of the medina's busiest streets. An extensive series of photos in the rooms and the communal areas attest to the restoration process, which involved fifty artisans working for eighteen months.

The warmth of the welcome and the hospitality we received during our stay was such that I must mention the staff by name; Sabah at reception; Samira and Fatima Zohra in the kitchen; Hind, FZ, Saamia and Hadija in the restaurant; Fatiflower in housekeeping. And of course the hosts themselves; Fred and Cathy.

You can eat delicious dinners in the restaurant, and can choose the additional pleasure of accompanying chef Samira to the souq to shop for the evening's ingredients, and then join her in the kitchen as she prepares the evening meal.

A quite exceptional stay. Highly recommended.

This Riad is a gem in Fes! The Riad itself is beautiful and the staff makes you feel like this is your home. They will work to accommodate special requests and to ensure that your time in Fes is well spent.
On our first morning we were asked by the chef if we wante dto accompnay her on her mornign shoping trip of the local markets. We did and what a treat!! Not only did we get an intimate glimpse of the local food markets but she helped us find shops where our son could do a bit of last minute Christmas shopping.

The owners are also special. They take an interest in each of their guests and without beign intrusive are there to lend thier expertise and insights as requested.

Our 3 night stay at Riad Laaroussa with our two sons and girlfriend were memorable and without complaint.

We loved staying at the Riad Laaruoussa and heartily recommend this to travelers to Fes. The location is perfect, the ladies managing and cooking at the Riad are wonderfully hospitable, the breakfasts and dinners were scrumptious, and our room was absolutely lovely. We particulary enjoyed going to the market with Samira to shop for that night's dinner. They arranged for a car to pick us up in Casablanca and also arranged a wonderfully, knowledgeable guide for a day. A guide is a must to really see and understand Fes. The staff made our stay worthwhile because they guided us to interesting sights, answered our questions and couldn't do enough to make sure we got the most out of our visit to Fes. The Riad is utterly charming and is definitely THE place to stay in Fes.
