“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful serenity and a staff that genuinely seems to enjoy pampering their guests. Fred sent a car to pick us up at the train station and from that moment until we left Fred & Cathy and their staff were attentive to our needs and requests without ever being intrusive. The Riad and rooms are dramatically beautiful. Breakfast on the roof or in the courtyard was lovely. We also had a lovely dinner on the roof where the views of the Medina and surrounding hills at night were breathtakingly beautiful - and the food and service were also very good.

We hope to be able to return to enjoy the Riad and the Medina at Fez.

We had a truly lovely 3-night stay in the palatial Green Room. The intricate mosaic tile in that room is absolutely lovely. It is on the ground floor and opens into the courtyard -- we had the AC on at night with the windows closed and did not hear any noise at all. The staff all went above and beyond to make our stay happy and comfortable. The Fes medina is not an easy place to navigate and we could always count on someone to walk us to dinner or to the nearest gate. FZ was always there to help and she really seemed to us like the heart of the place. The breakfasts are delicious and the dinner we ate there one night was also wonderful. I'm still thinking about the amazing olives they serve as snacks! The roof terrace has great views in all directions and has many comfy seating nooks. Make sure to explore all the different staircases, we kept finding new rooms and beautiful examples of mosaic tile and interior design. Be aware that the stairs up to the roof (where they serve meals) are extremely steep and the steps are taller than typical steps. The Green Room bathroom has a step up to the sink, then another tall step up to the toilet, then one down into the shower. (This is not a criticism of Riad Laarousa, unusual steps seemed typical in all the riads we stayed at around the country, Morocco would be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.)

My boyfriend and I visited Morocco for our first time this October. After a long day of traveling from New York, we arrived at Riad Laaroussa to be greeted by the most friendly and attentive staff. We had booked 2 nights in the blue room and one night in the yellow room (since the blue room had appeared to be unavailable all three nights when we booked). However, while touring both rooms, we were asked which one we preferred and advised that we would be able to stay in whichever one we selected for our entire stay so we did not need to move. I greatly appreciated this gesture, which was just one of many during our stay.

The manager of the Riad, F.Z, did a wonderful job of providing us with restaurant recommendations, setting up/confirming reservations on our behalf, arranging for a guide of the medina (Amido was wonderful!) and a day trip to Meknes/Voluboulis. Kareem, Hadid and the entire staff were overly attentive and genuinely friendly (including both of the Riad's Labradors!) The entire Riad is designed impeccably and the food is just as impressive.

We had originally booked another Riad for our time in Fes but are so thankful we made the last minute decision to switch based on all of the amazing Trip Advisor reviews we read about Riad Laaroussa like I hope to leave here!

Until next time,
Lauren and Oliver

Our first contact with the Riad Laaroussa staff set the scene for the service that we continued to receive during our magical stay in this beautiful Riad in the amazing Medina in Fez. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated as family members. We arrived quite late in the evening after a very long and tiring journey; we were taken to our beautiful room which had been made welcoming and intimate, with candlelight casting a soothing light everywhere and incense producing a calming aroma. We thereafter enjoyed dinner in the moonlight on the terrace at the very top of the Riad. The staff were helpful and friendly in every respect. The guide that the Riad staff arranged for to take us around the Medina was charming and knowledgeable. We stayed three nights and enjoyed every moment. After the bustling streets of the Medina it was a calm oasis to which to return. The owners have a genuine and sincere desire to make your stay as happy and enjoyable as possible. I also enjoyed three wonderful hours in the spa, enjoying the hammam and a relaxing massage. I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful Riad. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the red room which looked over the courtyard. It was comfortable and welcoming. The b...

“Our recent trip to the Riad Laaroussa was a dream. We could not have picked a better a better location to spend our first night in Morocco. From the ancient charm of the bedroom to the enchanting view of the court yard, this little oasis in the middle of the of old medina, exceeded our expectations. The personal attention staff and overall commitment to detail to was unmatched on our trip throughout Spain and Morocco. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the Riad Laaroussa family. The staff assisted in arranging transport, guided tours and provided local insight into the city. Riad Laaroussa is more than an accommodation, it is a little corner of Fez, not to be missed. We hope to return soon.”

Must-stay at least for one night. Beautifully renovated place, magical ambiance. Exceptionally kind and helpful staff made us feel at home. Best quality meals, truly Moroccan dishes.

Very special place, hope we can go there again

I stayed at Riad Laaroussa with my boyfriend in September 2013. We loved every minute of it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ordered the dinner offered by the riad and it was the best food we had during our whole trip to Morocco. Same with the breakfast. The room was large and looked out onto the courtyard but was still very quiet for sleeping (unlike some other riads we stayed at during our visit). Would definitely recommend this riad to friends and family travelling to Fes.
