“Exquisite Architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Let me validate the other reviews without repeating their content. I was struck by the exquisite architecture of the courtyard, the rich detail and ornamentation and plush appointments of this Riad. Our bedroom was beautiful and my sense that every room is wonderful. The rooms are also so beautifully appointed and air conditioned, which was deeply appreciated.

Service is attentive, even if there is little understanding of English. That this is a family business comes through.

What could be better? 1) They could get a repeater for Wifi for the upstairs rooms. You cannot access the WIfi there but must come down to the un air conditioned courtyard to access Wifi. They could solve this problem for $100 or so. It is a puzzle why they have not done so and that would have been MOST appreciated. 2) I am told by a guest that there is some facility on the roof, and it would be nice to have been told by the staff here (still haven't seen it yet). 3) They could put bottled water in the room and bathroom. 4) Breakfasts, while good, lack any protein (OK, there's a delicious yogurt) but IF you ask they will make you eggs. They call it an omelette, and it looks like an omelette but there are no fillings. Breakfast each day consists of: a) coffee, which is good though not excellent, b) orange juice that is delicious, c) three or four plates of breads/pancakes that are good but nothing special.

All in all, this is very nice. I do see the relative rating of this riad and if I returned I would try a higher rated riad. While I am enjoying my stay here, I don't feel compelled to return.

Room Tip: My sense is that all the rooms are substantially similar.

We approached Riad Myra through the rather blank alleys from the road, to be wonderfully surprised by the beauty and charm of the interior. Personal attention and warm greeting were a balm after a long day. The restored details and classic furnishings and style make for a romantic setting. I would be happy to go back again anytime.

Room Tip: As usual for this type of lodging, there are steep steps and no elevators, so plan for your fitness...

What a wonderful place! The interior is beautiful with ornate and spacious rooms. Staff were very friendly staff. Breakfast included a selection of Moroccan pastries, tea and coffee. No English TV stations. The free WiFi worked well. Highly recommended.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

We recently spent 2 nights at Riad Myra and were taken aback by the magnificent architecture of this renovated riad. Our room was spacious and despite being on the ground floor was extremely quiet and peaceful albeit a bit dim. What made this stay a good one for us was the impeccable service of Ibrahim - please forgive me if I have the spelling incorrect- who was everywhere ensuring that we were being well attended to. The staff attending to our meals were also very friendly and helpful. The main reason I have not rated this as high as other reviews is that the "owner" hovered around the dining area constantly viewing his staff and both my husband and I found this to be quite disconcerting and were very aware that his staff serving us were also very uncomfortable with this. We had just come from a beautiful riad in Marrakech where the atmosphere was relaxed and very homelike and jovial to riad Myra where it was not quite the same. Not sure I would go back to this riad but would definitely return to Fes as it is a beautiful city steeped in history and a melting pot of cultures - just loved it

Dear Guests,
Thank you for your feedback that was not only interesting but also very constructive.
I take this opportunity to shed the light over a " feeling" that you expressed regarding the relationship between the staff and the owner :
Riad Myra is a family business. The staff is our family. i can assure you that there is no doubt about that.
The owner, was greeting guests and making sure they all have what they need. This is the traditional Moroccan way when you invite people over to your house. Therefore I am surprised that you felt the staff was uncomfortable.Allow me to emphasize that Marrakech and Fes are different. People from Fès are very conservative and might appear to you as uncomfortable but it is a kind of respect.
Our aim is to make sure all our guests at the Riad make the most of their stay.
I am glad you liked Fes and definitely would like to come back;

Thanks again for staying at Riad Myra and sharing with us your comments !

We arrived at Myra, having driven into Fès from miles away, late, fraught and confused but within moments were soothed by a graceful greeting and mint tea.
Entering through the ornate door in a high, blank, wall, we were amazed to see a beautiful courtyard similar to the Alhambra; a fountain full of rose petals, beautiful tiles and plasterwork, and graceful balconies.
Our room was superb, spacious and comfortable although, as was typical in Moroccan riad bedrooms, dark. The beautifully ornate lights are not really practical!
We had a lovely 3 days there, the staff, particularly the English-speaking manager were helpful and attentive. Fès is a wonderful city; I want to go back and dive back into the Medina to wallow in its scents, sights and sounds once more, and would not hesitate to return to Riad Myra.

A trip to Fes is truly like stepping back in time, and staying at a riad completes the experience. Riad Myra is an absolutely stunning example of Moroccan architecture with wonderfully modern and comfortable guest rooms. Lots of privacy and modern bathrooms make this the perfect intersection of old and new.

The kitchen is fantastic, so plan at least one dinner at Riad Myra. The staff is simply amazing and dedicated to making your stay in Fes unforgettable.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were sorry to leave.
This Riad is gorgeous, and the staff is warm, welcoming and helpful.
We had an amazing suite since we had been upgraded by our travel agent.
The location is perfect. It's Inside the medina and a short walk to a busy street filled with restaurants, shops, etc.

We highly recommend this jewel of a hotel!
