“Amazing honeymoon spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

What a beautiful place. We came to Fes on our honeymoon - and Dar Roumana did not disappoint. It’s hard to put into words how magnificent this place is - exquisitely restored with beautiful attention to detail, it felt like we were staying in a laid back palace. The staff was super friendly and always available for questions. We had a day long guide arranged for us by Gail, and were so pleasantly surprised by our guide Hakim. Hakim has lived in Fes for his entire life, speaks excellent English, and was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor - we had such a wonderful time learning about all things Fes. The Dar was so great because it was an oasis in the middle of a wonderful, vibrant city. We cannot recommend this place enough - it was wonderful.

We stayed at the Dar Roumana during our stay in Fes. Having visiting Marrakech the earlier in the week, Fes is very different with very narrow alleyways where cars are prohibited from entering the Medina. We received an email instructions from Mohammed at Dar Roumana to have the taxi take us to closest entrance and a porter will take us & luggage to the place. Good thing since there was NO way we would have managed to get to the property on our own. The place is really tranquil, quiet, peaceful and really well situated amongst the chaos of the medina. Our room was the Roumana suite on the main floor. Very spacious, comfortable. The staff was wonderful and super friendly. I highly recommend this place.

The meticulous restoration of this historic building and the attention from the staff creates a balance of harmony and relaxation, reminiscent of days gone by. Our experience could not have been better. The staff is dedicated to taking excellent care of the guests. The highlight of our experience was our highly educated guide Hakim, who cherishes cultural bridges with a sense of humor. Recommended is the Yasmina suite, and a dinner in the Roumana courtyard. The Dar is located just within the medina wall with one nearby restaurant.

We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Morocco where we were fortunate enough to spend 2 nights at Dar Roumana. It really is as magical as all the reviews and photos say it is. We felt extremely welcome by all the staff and the place is just heavenly. The food there was amazing and we met some really lovely like minded people whilst staying there. I really can't speak highly enough of this place.

Magical Hotel in a magical, ancient city. Magnificent restored Moroccan house with exquisite, traditional interior. Excellent staff and management who give their time freely to make your stay perfect and the best Moroccan food I have tasted. Easy to find but still close to the delightful chaos of the streets of Fes.

This review is long overdue, but I believe Dar Roumana is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. It is not only beautiful appointment and exceptionally comfortable, but quinessentially Moroccan. Although I have stayed at some very nice hotels, Dar Roumana is among my favorites because it has so much character. It is also an exceptional bargain for the price. The owners were fabulous in helping to set us up with guides and restaurant recommendations. They also saved us from an ill-conceived plan to take an overnight train from Fes to Tangier. Instead, they convinced us to leave a little earlier (for safety reasons) and booked us a great hotel in Tangier before our flight home. We also had an incredible dinner at Dar Roumana-- I highly recommend you try Jennifer's cooking! We can't wait to return some day
