We read some bad reviews about the hotel but the price was very tempting, around 40 U$ per night at a book in hotels dot com so we decided to go for it and write to the hotel, to be sure they will honor the reservation and that we didn't ended up dump on the basement. We are glad we did, our room/bed where nice and the only real problem for me was that the air didn't had a remote control. It turn on with the key of the room and either you have light to read/talk (forget the TV, at least ours was either in Arab or French, with terrible sound and worst image, but we were not there to watch TV) and the air blasting or you are in the dark without air. Breakfast wasn't very exiting but wasn't terrible either. I will stay away from the juice since we where sick and the ice is the only thing I can think may have cause it. The pool was for sure the highlight of the hotel (competing with the water pressure on the shower) but can be crowded and they don't have enough chairs. Taxi to the Medina was around 1,3 Euros and we didn't had any problems finding/taking, but be aware that taxis can -and will- be shared in Fez, don't be scare when some estranger get on your cab. About 2 blocks from the hotel there is a Turkish bath or Hammam and that is an experience not to be missed, even if a couple of people spitting on the floor y'all are sharing can creep you a little. Will stay again, but then, after been in Fez, next time will probably be just a little more adventurous and just take my changes finding a Riad in the Medina ( I could'nt find any online around this budget but if you walk I hear it is possible to find one) for a even more authentic experience. Not that the Fez Inn wasn’t authentic enough with the bad views, (no, I dont think there is a one single room in the hotel with a nice view, but you are in FEZ, everywhere you look you see poverty and bad electrical work) terrible TV and commission-based restaurant's recommendations.

Many of the reviews of this hotel were pretty unfair considering the price of the hotel (paid £18/room/night)
The pool was really nice and was empty most the time except for late afternoons. It is across a road however but that isn't really much of a problem. It's opening hours of 10am-11pm are pretty good as well.
The restaurant staff were lovely- we ate there a lot! The food was good though not everything on the menu was always available. Breakfast wasn't great but certainly edible.
Rooms were fairly standard, Tv (only english speaking channel is CNN though) Saw 2 cockroaches- but that's somewhat unavoidable inn Fes!
Easy to get a taxi into medina for less than a £1 from just outside.
There's a computer you can pay to use- but it is very slow
Not a luxury hotel but great for anyone on a budget.

We stayed at the Fes Inn for eleven days. Although you must take a taxi to the downtown or to the medina, it was a great value and we would certainly stay there again. The room was spacious and kept very clean. Given that we were there during the summer, the air conditioning was a welcome relief at the end of the day. We had a continental breakfast each morning which was unexciting but filling, and the servers were always friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant and bar but we didn't eat there, so we don't have any feed-back about the quality or service. The pool, which is across the street, is well-tended and quite pretty. The staff was helpful when asked. Be sure to ask for a room on the second or third floor, as there are rooms on the ground floor which are probably too close to the bar and nightly activities to be quiet after a long day of sight-seeing. This isn't a four-star hotel, but you aren't paying for one! Enjoy.

After reading some of the other horrible reviews we really were fearing the worst. However, upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The staff seemed friendly and accomodating enough. On the first night they did put us on the ground floor, but the rooms were quiet, clean and fairly spacious, and the bathrooms were fairly modern with hot water. On the succesive nights some of our friends moved to more spacious rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors.

The breakfast was modest and included eggs, pancakes and other cakes (pretty standard for Moroccan hotels). The bar in the basement was reasonably priced and was good for a couple of drinks before bed after a long day walking around Fez. Taxis to the centre should cost about 20Dm, as long as you flag them down at the front of the hotel (we paid 100Dh for one we booked via reception - mistake!). There are a couple of small shops either side of the hotel which are open late which sell food and drink.

I was annoyed at some of the other reviews. At the end of the day you get what you pay for; you are not paying top dollar so don't expect a 5 star experience! And complaining about the noise from the call to prayer in the middle of the night in a Muslim city is just plain stupid.
