“Simply the best hotel and views of Fes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

We Internet searched a lot b4 picking this hotel and we did very well indeed. Riad Fes offer not only a fantastic hotel that's been restored or retained to a magnificent standard but their rooftop bar lounge area offers the most sensational views of this amazing city medina.
There is no better hotel to base yourself at in Fes !!!
And .... The staff were lovely and helpful.
I really can't fault a thing here and in respect of rooms , to be honest i think we probably had the smallest room in the place and it was still really good and the bathroom accessories such as the olive extract hair conditioner - they should be bottling it and selling it - fan-bloody-tastic.

Love this place and will sing its praises to all who ask - already have been !!

Two important things to note
1 - brilliant positioned on the edge (yet central) of the medina which is important for taxis when u want to leave :-)
2 - hotel suggest guide was NOT so good - not their fault but really bad actually

If this helps. - click helpful :-) thanks

Service here spectacular. Hassan was so helpful it seemed like we had our own waiter. Reception desk very helpful.
Be prepared to walk a ways to get to the "lobby"-- either the shortcut through the garden or through part of the fatima.
We had rooms in the old side-- very quaint, spacious but a little dark for me. More light would have been helpful. Internet access in our room (Batha) was not good. Swimming pool not real big, but clean and protected from direct sun. Work out room not much- a few light weights, bike, elliptical machine.
Not really a place you want to go out at night and explore on your own, so we ate at the Riad each night. Eat the food they serve at the bar if you want a break from Moroccan food and save some money.

Overall a very nice place to stay--the little things above keep it from being a "5" for us.

If you go to Fes stay here. This place is the best! It is an amazing oasis in a sea of Fes mayhem. We were upgraded to a five star suite (and we don't know why but we are not complaining! The food in the restaurant there is excellent. We were taken down a maze of winding streets to get there and we thought where are we going but it was worth it.A great and and handy place in the Medina to see all that Fes has to offer.Very highly recommended.

I stayed at Riad Fes for the weekend and was impressed as soon as I arrived. The building itself is nothing short of amazing with stunning architecture and design as well as sweeping views of the city from the Riad's rooftop. Further the staff were extremely accommodative and I had no issue at all organising tours, tee times or reservations for supper. The facilities (including a pool, spa, and gym) were beautifully designed and made my stay over the weekend very comfortable.
In short, this is by far my favorite Riad in Morocco and I have visited many across the country as a frame of reference.

This hotel was amazing. At first we thought we were lost b/c its in the old town of Fes so not easy to get to. The streets are so small and old, we were a bit concerned. We were glad we hired a local driver from Casablanca so he figured everything out for us. So first advice, do NOT take the train if you are traveling with family. second advice, definitely stay here. The view from the hotel is amazing b/c this hotel is located in the middle of the old town so its like you are living in luxury in a village surrounding. Very different and great experience b/c of the location.

Our first trip to Morocco, A trip to celebrate my birthday was made a memorable one by location, accommodation & experience.
Fes is truly like stepping back in time and the Riad Fes a special place to have as a base to explore. It's tucked inside the Medina a short stroll through a maze of little streets> we pre booked a taxi from the airport and our driver helped us with our cases so a good start.
On checking in we were welcomed with Mint tea and cookies in the main atrium which is plush and ornate.,Basically stunning !
We had booked a deluxe room but were upgraded to a Junior suite a great surprise.
( Bathar) . This room is located up a couple of flights of stairs and overlooks an attractive courtyard. The room is quite dimly lit but has a lovely feel to it with a really comfy bed and great pillows. There is a TV with a couple of English channels , bath with shower over and his /hers sinks. Water was plentiful and red hot > In this room just note the taps are marked the wrong way C is actually the Hot tap in both sink and bath.Plenty of toiletries and a reasonably powerful hair drier. We took Tea bags .. old habits die hard and Riad obligingly supplied milk as needed which we kept in mini bar Daily small bottle of water supplied on a complementary basis.Price of Drinks :Coke was small bottle size and 250 DH so quite expensive (£2) , Sprite twice the size, same price. We bought a large water at small kiosk near Riad and filled up in room ! ( 8DH )We took the half board package which entitled us in the evening to a starter, main & desert. We found the menu and quality of food to be high. The Lamb, Chefs special was particularly nice. Deserts delicious ! House Wine at meals were we felt quite small if taken by glass but was palatable.Breakfast , the usual, choice of fresh juices, pastries, yoghurt's, cereals, omelettes /pancakes to order etc Pool was cool but perfect for a refreshing dip . partial shade which is welcomed early in day and mid afternoon . Towels supplied. Deep end about 5 foot. Bar service. We found service to be great and staff all really friendly, heard some other grumbles but we couldn't complain, service on roof terrace more varied but staff do come and go I guess it's just a timing thing maybe ? Bar/ Waiting Staff all speak reasonable English but its better if you can speak a bit of French I would say! All welcoming and polite . I even had a happy birthday at restaurant from staff. Excursions: We chose to to have guide in Medina, lots didn't. Lots of different quarters to explore and fascinating architecture. Some directing to Rugs,Ceramic,Leather work we chose to buy what we wanted and found in general a polite No thanks was respected. Tanneries , really stinky, you will get a piece of mint but we took some essential oil and some VICK believe it or not it worked!! Went to Volubilis ( Roman ruins) and Meknes ( Imperial City - very different feel to it / thoroughly enjoyed it )with a great driver organised through Riad> Mohamed Idrissi .He was absolutely charming very professional, proud of his country and culture but was unobtrusive taking us to some great spots. He isn't an official Guide but a great conversationalist and knowledgeable of the area. I pre booked some treatments in SPA at Hotel. Facial and leg massage both well delivered and comparable to UK prices. We were lucky with our fellow guests , met some great people - Multi national clientèle> a number of British, Americans, French & Italians during our stay.
Overall I would say it was a great break at a lovely Riad in a fascinating City/ Country. We will be returning to Morocco - 'inshallah'
Small Tip: at airport on departure get the departure form before joining queue to check in > they are on display but missed by lots of people , thanks to others who passed on the knowledge who had been before!
Ramadan starts this weekend for month so it may get a bit quieter .

We stayed in this hotel a few weeks ago and while the hotel itself is beautiful - the people are incredibly arrogant. At every part of the trip we were greeted with a disdainful attitude by a very entitled staff! Definitely worth seeing but not staying!
