“Beautiful from the outside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

You cannot enter the Royal Palace of Fez, but it is worth the stop. It is right next to the cellah. Entrance into the Palace is not allowed, so you can just view from the outside.

“Worth a stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Definitely worth a wander around. The mosaics etc are at their Moroccan best. But then it is a palace, so they would have been built and decorated by the best artisans!

“NIce from outside”

You cannot go in so enjoy the elegant facade and the lovely gates. The Jewish qurter to the side is also interesting.

“Doors, and more doors ....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Apparently you used to be able to tour this palace and its grounds, and based on the exterior, I am sure the interior would be breathtaking and worthy of a long visit, but sadly, all you are allowed nowadays is to look at the doors and photograph them so that cuts the visit time down to only a few minutes.

You are also prevented from taking photos of the wider area which include some of the palace grounds by some fairly strict security. None of our group tried so we didnt encounter an issue with the guards who were clearly visible nearby, but our guide made it clear we would have a problem if we tried ......

The doors are impressive and very intricate, the ornate mosaic work is also beautiful, but really, there is not much more to say or see ...... appreciate what you can see, but move on quickly ...!

“beautiful worth the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Lovely unique mosaic work and great history. Easy access and this city is very safe especially in the day time. Get a good company to take you to Morocco like NatGeo
