“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Positioned in the middle of the Fes medina,is the place where you can find everything you need for a relaxing and peaceful stay.
It's a beautiful riad with refined tipical forniture and cozy rooms equipped with every kind of comfort!
I think one of the best strenght is the cooking, because you know in Morrocco is not easy to find a place to eat well, and there you can eat a tajin on top of the standard for sure!
All the staff is very professional, prepared and especially ready to help you anytime.
I can only recommend it to everyone!

I've been in Fès more than once and I and I definitely advice to go to Algila because it has something more than other hotels. It is located in the center of the old medina and it provides a very good services in terms of welcome, bedrooms, helpfulness of the staff and food of course, and you can drink whenever you want the best tea I have ever drunk in the tipical coloured patios of the hotel. Very very nice weekend !

I arrived in Fes late at night after an exhausting trip from Casablanca, all I was dreaming of was a shower and cosy bed!
After a short walk from the drop off square through the old medina maze streets we finally got to the hotel's discreet entrance, where we were kindly greeted by the hotel owners and staff with a delicious welcome mint tea accompanied by local biscuits (despite the fact that it was 2.30 a.m.).
After a short chat we where accompanied to our elegant but cosy bead rooms where I found the confirm that after the long research the choice of the Algila dar was the right one also thanks to its great value for price rate enriched by a cosy family atmosphere, tasteful ambience and polite well trained staff.
I joust got back home but don't worry I will soon be back!

Great town, adorable hotel
OK, i expected Morocco to be warm in February and it wasn't - i should have checked. But we had a great time in Fez anyway, shopped until we dropped and ended up having to pay for extra bags on the flight home for rugs, a gorgeous lantern, etc. The guide the Algila organized was great, even though i KNOW he took us to all his relatives' shops!! I'd recommend the hotel - the location was great, two blocks away from the main drags and super quiet. The room was very nice, if a bit small, and i loved the bathroom. It's a brand new hotel so the service wasn't the smoothest but they tried very hard to please, and i really liked all the little touches like the fruit and pastries. Our package included a day trip to Volubilis and Meknes and that was fabulous - especially the stables/granary outside Meknes.
We will definitely go back!

Stayed here with my partner for a weekend in Fes.

This hotel is newly renovated with all the old-medina decoration, but was airy, clean and modern - no bad plumbing or funny smells here!

Room was beautiful with intricate wood roof carving, heating/cooling (must!) and the largest and most comfortable bed with clean crisp linen for the best few nights sleep in Morocco. Bottled water supplied, fridge, plenty of towels and the room and bathroom immaculate.

The manager and staff are excellent - friendly and helpful but not in your face about it. No problems being a bit late out of the room at checkout. Breakfast eggs made to order. Call ahead and staff will meet you in the Batha entrance, help you find the parking (20 dirham for undercover guarded parking), and walk you to the Riad to help you find the way.

I highly recommend the location of this riad - once you learn to place yourself in the Fez medina you realise it is so well located. It is in a quieter area so one can escape the bustle and hassle, but with easy access (i.e you can walk a straight line without having to walk a maze of streets) to both the Batha entrance and to the main shopping street of Rue Talaa Seghira.

I will be back the next trip!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Spent a long weekend here two weeks ago with a group of friends. We needed 6 rooms so took over a whole section of the hotel, which worked out really well as we had our own courtyard to hang out in. On the last evening we had the hotel set up a 1001 Nights dinner for us in the courtyard - they did a great job, the food was fab as was the setting, and we all had a great time buying Moroccan outfits for it in the medina. We chose the Algila because we - the same group - stayed in their hotel in Sicily (Syracuse) a couple of years ago and loved it. In both cases the locations are terrific, the rooms beautifully decorated/kitted out, staff bend over backwards to help, prices reasonable, etc. A tiny negative for the Fez hotel is that the standard rooms are pretty small but you don't spend much time in your room anyway. Trip highlights: the medina (if you're shopping for rugs go to Khalid & Si Mohamed on Talaa Kibeera - I bought 4!); the stables at Meknes; the (SPECTACULAR) Roman ruins at Volubilis.

Room Tip: If you have the budget, book a suite...

By chance we - a group of friends - found this newly opened boutique hotel, withiin the ancient Medina in Fez. The rooms are ,spacious and sympathetic..around the inner courtyards vhere breakfast & drinks are served in the traditional manner . Lovely roof terraces with views over the Medina to the mountains beyond. Helpful staff...very authentic.
