“Wonderful view!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Although not much is left from the Merenid Tombs, the place allows for a breath-taking view of the old Medina! Worth the visit! Catch a petit-taxi.

“Good view, beware the wrong attention”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

This is a classic place to view Fes and beyond, and the Hotel Merenides is great for coffee/tea and cooling off after a bit of sightseeing. However be aware that not all the locals hanging around up in that area are the nicest sort for women to meet. There is a lot of general harrassment from men all around Fes, so of course there were a few men up there spouting the usual 'sexy' garbage - but this is the only place where boys (around 10 years old) actually threw rocks. One just missed my daughter.
Though we took a taxi up there, as it was a hot day, we realised that it's actually much closer than it looks and easily walkable from Bab Boujloud.

For coming back, we had been warned by a local friend not to walk down the hill out of sight of the road, at any time of the day, in case of mugging (the suburb up on that the hill is apparently a 'less desirable' area. We found the walk back down along the road to the Medina quiet and fine- not many people around as it was Friday.
I would like to go back there at sunset, but on the advice of our friend would not walk back, even on the road, later in the day

“nice view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Outside of the city, you should take a cab. Not much to see, but it is beautiful- read about it before you go as there are no signs of any kind- it has a gorgeous view of the city, and you can walk back into the medina (all downhill).

“Well worth the Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

We alked from the Medina up some ticky slopes, past the goats and the skins drying. It was a lovely morning and what a fantastic view from the top. We sat a soaked up the view, were given a bit of a over view of the place by a passing bag saleman who was ok when we didn't purchase a bag. A rug seller also approached with his ware, I did feel very guilty when he dropped his price of his rugg from 300Dh to 50Dh, I felt like just giving him the money anyway - but I didn't. Wea walked by by a different route to take in the arms museum
