“Loved this hotel - it is a five star hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2008

This hotel was amazing! We stayed here for three nights in August. The grounds and common areas are just beautiful - gorgeous tile, woodwork and stained glass. The pool area surrounded by palm trees was serene. Service was fine. The ONLY downside was the air conditioning in the room - it was barely existent! Probably about 85 degrees in the room and 100 degrees outside. The computer room of the hotel was the coldest and most comfortable room for us. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel -much more beautiful than we expected. The room was clean and modern. It was an easy walk into the Villa Nouvelle area. The breakfast buffet was generous with fresh fruits, cheese, cereal and a wide variety of other foods plus it was included in the cost of the room. We thought this hotel was excellent value for all the amenities and beauty of the facility.

Slightly out of the way (getting a petit taxi to the main sights means a short walk) but difficult to fault - I'd say a reasonable four star, but never five star. The staff were friendly and helped when asked, the breakfast eclectic (where everything was moved every day, but hey, this is Morocco), the other restaurants variable. The main one was shut when we were there (except to big tour parties and then it was the usual buffet, although it looked good), the other an Italian, which was fine if you needed a break from the local fare or had a dodgy tummy.

You have to learn to ask if you want something, but then it usually appears. The pool is massive but also freezing when we were there in February. The tennis courts were well maintained and I never saw anyone use the gym equipment, although it looked in good condition. We stayed a week and explored the area with a grand taxi, but the vast majority of people here are passing through on the grand trek. You can spend a week here if you've been to Morocco before and need a break.

  • Liked — Cleanliness
  • Disliked — Fact that the main restaurant was shut

The hotel looked nice, but was not 5 star as stated outside the hotel. We had a suite, the hotel had a timer on the heating so arrived to a cold room.

The breakfast was good, usual selection, although, on one of the mornings, prob before a hotel day trip, most of the breakfast had finished, and took time to be replenished.

The room service food - avg, had to order cos of the 2 toddlers we took

I had booked a massage - what a let down!! entered the salon in a gown, and was abolutely freezing in the so-called massage room - more like a waiting room! Was then taken outside across the swimming pool to the sauna rooms, and the qulaity of the massage was not good - so dont recommend that

The Jnan Palace is a true five star hotel, with gorgeous decor and friendly staff. The room we had was spacious with two double beds, a balcony over-looking the pool and the 7 acres of the hotel's land, a huge bathroom, mini-bar, robes and a basket of fruit was placed in the room upon our arrival. The hotel has 3 restaurants - one which serves a buffet breakfast with cold cuts, cheese, cereal, bread, cake, fresh fruit, eggs (boiled, scrambled or freshly made just for you!) and fruit juice. The Morroccan restaurant is beautifully decorated with exquisite tile-work and live Arabic music. The Meditteranean restaurant serves many western dishes, including, soups, salads, pizzas and pastas. Although Harira, Morroccan soup, is not on the menu, the staff are more than happy to provide it. This hotel is definitely well-worth the money.

  • Liked — Large room size...
  • Disliked — Location - in residential area
  • Tips/Secrets — Do not order a taxi to go into town - walk out of the hotel, turn right on the main street and hail your own taxi

Magnificent hotel, really deserves to be named Palace. The service is outstanding, the food is delicious very friendly and hospitable staff, the hotel is located in the heart of the city, huge pool and for tennis lovers you will be spoiled by the 4 well maintained courts.
I recommand this hotel to everyone
