“An outstanding experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

The top quality service begins with an email when you book. I suggest geetting the hotel arranged taxi - impossible to find it otherwise. The riad is stunning - an enclosed paradise with the best service possible. The owner and hid wife are around a lot and welcome guests and made themselves known. I arranged for 2 guides through the hotel and they also were excellent.
Highly recommended as an oasis in a bussling and interesting Fez.

From arrival and all the way through to departure, the hotel and staff exceeded our expectations. We travel regularly and stay in many hotels and it is a pleasure to say that this hotel will be remembered. The attention to detail in the hotel is amazing from the magnificent courtyard to the bathrooms and the staff are amazing, exceptionally nice yet genuine and nothing is too hard. The room rate was more than fair, in fact with all the little extras included like breakfast, daily turn down, the quality daily pillow chocolate and the assistance in navigating the Medina, this hotel offers exceptional value. Expect to see one of the owners in and around the hotel, they are personally involved and ensure that your stay is special.

Room Tip: All of the rooms look amazing, have plenty of room, high quality finishings and are individually sty...

Our third visit to Palais Amani. Our visit in February 2012 was so wonderful that we have done it again! This beautifully renovated palais is such a delight. A haven of peace in the bustling medina. The charming staff cannot do enough for their guests. The accommodation is perfect with great attention to detail. I cannot recommend it highly enough, Fes is so unique and staying at the Palais Amani makes it an unforgettable experience.

Winter blues fell away as soon as we walked up the mysterious narrow alley leading to the tall blank wall we knew contained a luxury fairyland. How wonderful to be back in Palais Amani. Warm greetings, beautiful and luxurious bedroom, delicious and inventive Moroccan cooking not to mention the relaxing spa treatments and exciting optional excursions. Why have we stayed away for a whole year?
Fascinating Fez seen under the best possible circumstances. A complete escape from any hint of the humdrum. Just what was needed to deal with january blues...

Room Tip: All rooms are different, all dreamlike and very comfortable. See photos

My wife, daughter and I spent another magical Christmas at the Palais AMANI. Returning two years in a row should tell you something.....we thoroughly enjoyed the genuine hospitality of all of the staff. Without exception, the service from all we met was 5 stars- delivered with style and grace. We experienced a most relaxed 4 days with excursions to ancient archaeological site and regular visits within the Medina. Our rooms - elegant, charming and of course comfortable. Our dining experience was also of the highest standard - so much so that we ate almost every meal at the hotel And the Hammam - is a must ! Do not miss this totally relaxing and cultural experience.... The memories of this wonderful visit are lasting and worth sharing.

From the email booking confirmation to ordering us the last taxi back to the airport our experience was amazing.
We stayed here in January 2013 for four nights, we had three doulble rooms and each room was unique. It was an oasis of calm in the middle of madness! The accomodation was fabulous, clean, fragrant with a beautiful mixture between the modern and traditional design.
So pleased to have found Palais amani. It really is a fantastic hotel with exceptional service and character.
We have continually recommended it to friends and can't wait for an opportunity to return.
Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and attentive staff, who made us feel so welcome .
The food was extremely varied appearing to cater for all tastes and very, very tasty.
Finally the views were stunning, the architecture in itself is breathtaking but sitting there in the sun, with a glass of wine, looking at the spectacular view of the medina is something else.
Thank you to all at Palais Amani for a magnificent stay

Had the worst stay in Morocco at the Palais Amani. Probably the worst place I've stayed in the whole world. The staff were extrememly rude. Each night we had to request the bottled water to brush our teeth and they were annoyed every time we asked. But, they were more than happy to re-stock the items in our room which we had to pay for. Breakfast was awful, same thing every morning. Bread and horrible preserves. Not nearly enough food. Don't even ask for a second coffee or glass of water, they will huff and puff and roll their eyes. The waitress that served us was rude, cold and unwelcoming. Made us feel like we were troubling her by turning up every morning. They charge you for every little thing so if you do risk it and stay here, don't eat the tiny bowl of almonds or the chips. They will charge you $20 for them each night. If they are going to charge for such items, the price list needs to be left on the same tray, not on the other side of the room. In saying that, there were no prices for the nuts and chips. Also, don't eat the chocolate they leave you at turn down, they charge you as well. There was no offer of help for drivers/tours etc. When we asked for a taxi to be called when we left, that was a huge issue. When we questioned our bill at the end, they turned nasty and would not explain just wanted the money. My advice would be to skip Fes and the Palais Amani and go straight to the beautiful Riad Dar One in Marrakech. Half the price and 100 times nicer. The Palais Amani does not know how to run accommodation and be hospitable. Like everyone in Fes, they just want your money.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

If this comment is a genuine one, and we have strong reason to believe it is not, then I am left breathless by the ‘experience’ described here.
I am also upset by the level of damage that this ‘guest’ wishes to inflict on our establishment and pained by the virulence with which a human being expresses themself once behind the anonymous safety of the internet.
This comment is being investigated, both at Tripadvisor, but also within our management team in order to make sure that such severe breakdowns in our welcome and service are not the case.
In the mean time I would like to rectify the blatant untruths that it contains:
1. Our water is filtered so it is perfectly ok to brush your teeth with tap water. But for those who are concerned about the water, bottled water is provided in the rooms every evening and is complimentary, as is tea and homemade pastries every afternoon, the slippers on your bed on arrival AND the homemade chocolates left at our turn down service.
2. The room service tray containing nuts, olives and a select selection of drinks also has a clearly displayed price list. I believe it to be common hotel procedure to charge for products consumed from room service. No-one is obliged to consume and there are no surprises if you do. (And incidentally the nuts and olives are not billed at 20$, as this person claims, but 40 dhs per generous bowl)
3 .Our full traditional Moroccan breakfast is extensive and changes daily. It is comprised of a selection of homemade jams, local cheese, olives, oils and home baked bread, along with fresh fruit, fresh juice, a daily changing dish of typical Moroccan breakfast delicacies, and as much coffee and/or tea as the guests wish. A far call from this person’s description.
4. Tours, drivers and guides can and are organised either before your stay or during the time the guests are with us. A large part of the receptionists’ duties is taken up with organising these, along with taxis on departure.
This person’s accusations here are simply not true.
5. And finally, that the staff are inhospitable and rude, and that Palais Amani doesn’t know how to run accommodation...... well I suggest you read at your leisure some of the other 160 or more comments that praise the quality of our service and the hospitable nature of our staff.
