We found it easy to find the hostel upon our arrival in Fes from the train station by getting a red taxi to Batha. The directions video they have put on their website and YouTube are comprehensive and you can't go wrong, far easier to find than I expected.
The hostel is best described as a traditional Riad with a hostel approach and atmosphere, which gives guests the best of both worlds.
We had booked a twin room with ensuite and were surprised with the quality of the room which was spacious and well decorated with a satellite television (which we didn't use) and air conditioning (which we definitely did use). The ensuite bathroom was a sort of wet room, but was not really big enough to be a wet room, as it meant that everything got splashed with water. Shower was fixed head, not amazing but adequate. Towels were provided and beds were very clean.
At night time, the hostel was quiet and got a good nights sleep throughout out 3 night stay. Breakfasts here were good also, consisting of mint tea or coffee, orange juice, a fried egg and lots of bread with jams, chocolate spread and honey. You can get main meals at the Riad also, provided one of the maids is still working. Beer is also available.
Leanora, originally from the UK seems to be the owner & manager and was always on hand to give help and advice over anything and everything and was a true credit to the Riad. Also arranged a 5am taxi to the airport for us which was handy, not sure how we would have done this without her help. Lenora checked us in once we had arrived and had a mint tea. The check in process was smooth and you don't have to pay in cash, you can use a card with their chip and pin machine (5% fee I think) or do a bank transfer or paypal payment (no charge for these two). You have to do a pre-authorisation also for your stay, which is not done using the chip and pin machine, they just ask you to write down your card details on a form. Unusual, but I guess this saves transaction charges for them. I had no problem in doing this though, as all staff and in particular Leanora were very trustworthy.
The views from the roof terrace were good and allow you to see all over the medina and beyond.
Like other reviewers, I went on the walking tour of the medina organised by the hostel. Mohammed definitely showed us parts of the medina that most tourists would never get to see by taking us deep into the heart of the walled city. It was a bit of a sales push though, visiting a carpet shop and a tannery although I didn't buy anything from the places we visited apart from lunch when we stopped at a restaurant. In the end, we paid 75Dh each for the tour (there were 4 of us taking the tour), plus a meal and anything else you buy which was good value considering we were gone at least 4 hours.
There were other activities advertised that the hostel runs, such as Moroccan cooking classes, terrace drumming sessions and daily hammam visits which didn't appear to be going on whilst we were staying which was a shame, although to be fair we didn't ask about them either so maybe they just put them on if you ask in advance.
One minor grievance was that I got a tiny shard of glass in my foot from the floor under my bed whilst in our room which was less than ideal. Didn't bring this up with management though as was very small but was annoying nonetheless, so maybe this is a small area for improvement.
All in all I would have no problem recommending Riad Verus to any of my friends and would definitely stay again should I return to Fes.

We are so pleased you found it easy to find the hostel and that the youtube video and directions were so helpful. pleased you found you got the best of 2 worlds, the hostel approach and the traditonalness of a Riad in Fes. We are glad you found the twin room spacioius and well decorated and appreciated the air con and the quality offered. We apologise for the shower room getting a tad wet, since then we have installed a shower curtain to mitigate the splash effect! We are glad you got good nights sleeps and that you liked the breakfasts and the fact alcohol is served. Thanks for finding Leanora to be such a credit to the Riad and that the early taxi was a life saver. We are pleased you found the terrace so pleasing and that you found us to be a trustworthy bunch and you enjoyed the organised tour of Fes on offer which you considered good value and you liked the selection of activities on offer.
