I was compelled to write a review of our stay here in March 2013 after reading a few recent reviews. We too were the only couple in the entire Riad during our stay, and while the room and property were stunning, the service and attention to guest details was very poor. Despite the information in the room stating available restaurant options, sandwich options, bar open times, etc., the owner of the property informed us he “cannot accommodate us” with any of those items, and the bar was never open. The food was good, but breakfast was served late to us on our final day when we had an early deadline to leave. We needed breakfast at 6 am in order to meet our departure car. We asked the day before if we could just have some items to take to our room rather than bother them with such an early start the next morning, but were assured the early breakfast would be no problem. After we had to wake the server up at 6:30, we were finally served breakfast after 7 am, and nearly missed our car and flight as a result. A beautiful property yes, but an owner apparently disinterested in his guests and customer service, and guest service problems galore. There has to be a reason there generally seems to be only one set of guests in this Riad many times; there are better options in Fes and people have learned this.

The garden has a vast swimming pool surrounded by greenery and supplied with pure spring water, there are many fountains and patios, where you can relax and listen to the birds soothing singing. At nightfall the delicate light breeze from the Atlas Mountains highlights the assorted fragrances of musk, jasmine and honeysuckle. The oriental sweetness and delicacy is revealed. In the vein of Italian theatre, the esplanades located at various levels are very well adapted to all types of events, whether cultural, artistic or just for amusement. Riad Alkantara also has its lounge bar and smoking area on a shaded terrace, a restaurant where cuisine inspired from all over the world is served, traditional Moroccan cuisine which is served in the guest dining room, a shop selling traditional Moroccan clothes and decorative items ... more less
