“This restuarant should be omitted from the list recommended in Rough Guide”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

It is a very poor restuarant. The inside is torn, the food is poor, the price is unreasonable and the toilet is terrible. I have no idea why it is recommended by Rough Guide. I come to this restuarant because Rough Guide says something about the local support of this restuarant without dependence upon tour group. I appreciate this if this is true. Despite this, it should meet the minimum standatd. Unfortunately it does not.

“Not the best restaurant we had visited in Morocco”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We ate out here one night. It was more or a bar than a place to eat food. While the menu was fairly standard, they did not have any ingredients to make anything other than a tagine. The tagine tasted good, however the meat used was very fatty. We felt it was quite overpriced for what we received.

It was nice to have wine with the meal, and the selection was good. The music was also enjoyable, although was too loud to allow any conversation.

This may have just been a bad day for the ingredients list, but I can only comment on what I experienced.

“Great Food and Atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

This was one of our favorite places to eat in Fez. The decor is a combination of beautiful zilij tiles, linoleum flooring and tacky high-gloss moldings—somehow it all works. The staff is welcoming—we were particularly smitten with the very warm and jovial hostess whom we enjoyed chatting with despite our limited French. In the evenings, you can enjoy your meal with mellow, live oud playing in the background. We came here three times during our stay and were treated like regulars. Food was excellent. I would highly recommend the Fassi style chicken tagine. The steak and shrimp dishes are also excellent. Its a short taxi ride from the Medina on Ave Mohammad 5.

“Lovely atmosphere with good food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2010

We visited as a family of four staying ofr a week as part of a work trip for me. We very much encjoyed the music and the moroccan atmosphere was more a like a pub back home. The food was well cooked and plentiful. We also had a bottle of moroccan white wine from a rather small selection. Be aware that you have to pay by cash - credit cards do not seem well used here.
