“Good value, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

Hotel Cascade was a good value for its price--a great location, amazingly hot showers consistently available, fairly clean rooms. It was a bit cold at night, but the hotel provided what extra blankets they could, given that they were almost completely booked. I would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: If you're concerned about cold--opt for a room with an inner window (window does not face the ou...

Good location and cheap prices are plusses, but otherwise, this hotel needs a lot of help. The manager(s) should be in the soccer-watching business, not the hospitality business. The hotel could be great if some pride was put into it. The rooms are dirty cells with band-aid colored walls and sheets with someone else's pubic hairs. I was treated well but the manager yelled at a Japanese guest just to vent his racism. It made me very uncomfortable and sad to witness such treatment. From the rooftop terrace you can get good views of Fez if you don't look down on the other trash-piled rooftops.

Room Tip: To get a decent room, try other nearby hotels.

Cascade is a small, thin, 2 floors and tarrace hotel in good location - close to Bab Bulejud (Blue Gate). Take petit taxi to this gate and you will find it just after crossing the gate.

Rooms are small, mostly with windows on patio and equiped only in basics but for bagpackers it's enough.

On the terrace is a fine cafe where you may eat and drink some locals and .. if you want to you can sleep there for 1/4 price of the room.

This hostel is great location, right in the middle of the action, and in the middle of the medina. However, the bathroom facilities were pretty dire - to be expected in a hostel I suppose, but it certainly put me off going for a shower. We stayed on the roof, which was amazing, as great views and a fabulous way to sleep under the stars (however ear plugs were needed for me, as getting woken up at 4am every night due to the morning prayers did get irritating) Lucky for us were befriended the guy who monitored the roof (slept with us every night for our protection - very sweet), he was a great guy, good fun and cooked fabulous food for anyone who wanted it. Anyway he gave us the closed off area which contained 3 beds, tables and curtains. Perfect.

This was good for the money we paid, 150 DH. The pillows were a little hard but overall the room was nice and clean

The bathrooms were a little disappointing, a little dirty, more unkempt than anything else, so they just looked bad, no toilet paper either, but that's kind of standard for morocco, have to bring around your own TP

its in a great place, right at a big entrance to the medina, can get a petit taxi cap ride from the CMT bus station for like 20 Dh

does not protect against the calls to prayer at 4am, but that is just what happens in Fes, and other moroccan cities as well

the main guy who works the receptions speaks english, which was nice, he helped answer a lot of questions

its close to cafe clock, which has wireless internet, and some really good food actually, i recommend the pancakes.
