Dar Attajalla is located in the middle of the Medina of Fèz – a perfect spot to explore the wonderful city. We were picked up nearby the Dar since at first, it might take some time to find the entrance all by yourself. As soon as you get to know the era a little, the house is quite easy to find again and its strategic location is great: Not far from one of the main streets inside the medina, still in the upper part of the city so you have a wonderful view of the Medina from the terrace of the Dar.
The Dar itself is a wonderful place, beautifully decorated, with a lot of love for details. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard and having tea when the rain was pouring down (January can bring some dark clouds, but there are very few tourists in the city and you have the sights all by yourself…) as well as having our breakfast on the rooftop terrace of the house. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and tasty – as was the fantastic dinner (vegetarian couscous).
Our room was spacious, meticulously clean and very comfortable, with a large heater which is necessary in this time of the year throughout Morocco. And staff was extremely helpful with all our wishes and questions, while always having a friendly smile for us. There is also plenty of reading material about the city and Morocco in the entry hall, but they don’t match the personal tips you get from the staff, be it for tours, sights or for restaurants in the city.
Overall, this was our best accommodation in the two weeks we spent in Morocco!
