We went here on the last night of our tour through Morocco and I was excited to go here. It's a classic, right? Turns out it was a bit of a disappointment. It's one of those places that you wanna go to because you're in Casablanca and you've seen the movie.
It's 2 floors and it's pretty loud in there, the noise just echos through making it difficult to have a conversation if you're at a larger table. Lucky, several of us in our group were in a side room which made it quieter and more enjoyable. It was a set menu (we all got a souvenir pre-printed menu), the salad and the cream of tomato saffron soup were very good. We had a choice of fish or chicken for the main course - I ordered chicken or at least I thought I did. After the soup the waiters changed up some of the silverware, giving me an extra fork and knife. I told them I already had one but he wasn't understanding me too good. the meal came and they gave me the fish, it was grey and dark white and not very appetizing looking, so I told him I had the chicken. So he took it and gave it to the person next to me and brough me the chicken. Then a "head" type waiter came over and took my chicken saying I ordered the fish. It was an ordeal. Apparently they gave me the "fish" silverware so they thought I must have fish. I told him I won't eat it, I ordered the chicken and took the dish back out of his hand. He was NOT happy with me. We all looked at each other in dismay - totally confused by what just happened. Anyway, we all begin to eat and the chicken is horrible - it was thin, dry, and tough. So maybe he was trying to do me a favor - hahaha.
The place has a lot of ambiance & atmosphere, they have a little "Casablanca" room set up where you can take pictures like you're at the bar in the movie.
I wouldn't go back unless it was included in the trip. If I was asked I would suggest going maybe for lunch instead of dinner and go to a nicer local restantant fo dinner.
