I stayed at the Riad Salam in casablanca recently and was disappointed. That's mainly because the rooms are old, worn out and smelly. That's all the more disappointing because I paid over USD 110 for my single room. Breakfast was not bad but nothing to look forward to. The thalasso spa there is the only reason to stay, especially if you're looking for health treatments. The concierge was very helpful and so was the porter but the place is in desperate need for refurbishment.

We stayed at the Riad Salam Casablanca for two nights 4-5 Nov 2005. This was the hotel chosen by the tour company as the start to a Connoisseur In style tour of Morocco. Basically it is an old tired hotel on a tired run down concrete jungle beach strip. The staff were well trained, the food overpriced but well served. Public rooms in fare order but the hotel is highly overpriced for what you get by north american standards like a rambling old forties motel they just kept adding too.

I took the advice of the reviewers from Montreal and requested a room with a pool view upon check-in. It was bright, immaculately clean, and had a lovely little patio. I only stayed at the Riad Salam one night to get a good night's sleep and get over the worst of my jet lag before joining up with a tour group the next day. The large terrace overlooking the beach, the sea breezes, and the sunlight were just what the doctor ordered. The pool area was very clean and well-landscaped, too.

I chose to stay near the beach, because I was by myself. Since I didn't want to venture too far in Casablanca alone, I knew I'd feel less confined near the beach. Like the other reviewer said, there's not much to see along the beach promenade, but it's safe for strolling (even as a woman traveling alone), grabbing a snack, and stretching tired legs after a long flight.

Like my title says, I think this is a perfectly comfortable, above average hotel for 1-2 nights, but I suppose it could start to feel claustrophobic and the area a bit boring if you booked it for an entire week.

If there was ever a morccan faulty Towers it is this! Stay there at your own peril!
