“Needs Updating but Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

We stayed at the Riad Salam while waiting for a guided tour to begin. The hotel looked a little run down and was in need of some TLC. However, the location was amazing. We were close to the beach and many restaurants. We were able to stroll down the boardwalk and enjoy some great food.

Hard to find much better on the waterfront in Casablanca. The staff were lovely and could speak english, the pool is kept immaculate and was great to swim in, the rooms are a bit tired in decor but it is all very clean and service is great. After reading the reviews on here we were pleasantly surprised, especially as we found staff so helpful. It was the first place we stayed in and went on to wpend the month in Marrakech and Riad Salam was a great start to our trip.

What can I say... stayed there on 3 separate occasions (no choice...) and I hope I never have to go back, ever!

See the picture of the gigantic cockroach by yourself which I found in my first room. It took 30min for them to agree to put me in another one but the second room had another cockroach in the bathroom (dead this time) so we had to find a third room ("but it's the season Madame!").

Bonus on the picture, the state of the miserable carpet in the supposedly "refurbished' room. No facilities except an admittedly not too bad bed. The wifi worked sometimes, but not in all the rooms, and stopped for no reason, without anyone knowing why. Food at the restaurant was ok but grossly overpriced. I put the hanger on my door for room service breakfast the next day, only to find it exactly at the same place the next morning, 1h after it was supposed to have been delivered.

Staff is terrible too, not interested at all in you . There are stairs everywhere in this terrible hotel and no one, ever, seem to think it'd be a good idea to help you with your luggage, even if they see you struggle.

I guess location is nice with restaurants and clubs on the Corniche very accessible but the beach nearby is next to a drainage pipe.

Stayed in this hotel for the second time in August and still think this hotel is brilliant, rooms are spacious, very clean, 2 swimming pools, the main hotel one and the Le Lido Spa one, both very clean and well maintained, I must say that F&B staff can do with a bit of customer service training, however, housekeeping and front office staff as well as the door people are very kind and helpful.
Breakfast is good, all you need realy, you can ask for an omelette or scrambled egg, that can be served to your table free of charge.
Hotel has a direct access to the beach, not very well maintained but the beach is lovely.
Overall, good experience, loved the hotel pools, rooms are of a good standard and will definitely go back to this hotel.

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious and to a very high standard. The food in the hotel is good quality and has a large variety of dishes and snacks to chose from. The pool area is very clean and the pool is a good size with plenty of room to swim in with a separate area for children. The location of the hotel is on the beach, which is nice due to how busy and dirty casablanca is.
The staff in the hotel are miserable, rude and do not seem interested in helping. Customers seem more of a nuisance and are treated as an inconvenience. Le Jardin restaurant refused to serve us a sweet even though we had just had a meal because they wanted to go home and their shift had finished.
The hotel has access to the beach but it is next to a sewage outlet pipe and the beach is filthy and covered in rubbish.

STAY AWAY...... If you want a beach hotel this is not it. The pool is 50 years old, the staff is not helpful, and if you want to work out or use their spa its an extra arm and a leg!!!!!! NOT WORTH IT. Also if you want to feel comfortable wearing a bathing suit you may feel slightly not especially with a woman laying out next to you fully covered.

We stayed with a tour group so I have no idea of the price but the hotel itself was nice. Smartly styled, newly furnished rooms. Helpful staff. Nice lobby. Nice buffet breakfast. Great resort style pool. Sadly no internet for guests. My main reason for writing is that some of the reviews painted a poor picture. Not our case at all. Clean, beautiful, stylish. I would stay again. The location (tourist beach area - Corniche) requires a quick taxi into town but being on the beach strip (nightblub area) has its own rewards.
