“Not bad, but I'll keep looking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

his hotel is definitely not bad. The area is nice, short way to shops or old city. By taxi 5 minutes to the Grand Mosque. Anyway, the furniture would enjoy some renovation.
The breakfast was not so wide, but sufficient in choices. The rooms are quite big, wi-fi is also working well. So, generaly... OK, but I am sure there will be much better hotels in Casablanca. Will try them next time.

I stayed for 7 days for business. The hotel hall looked great with the moroccan tiles, carvings and decorations. The stay here is peaceful and the staff are attentive and friendly, Two of them (one serving at the Moroccan restaurant at night and one in the morning breakfast doing eggs) are even cheerful and sometime you can hear them humming. They are really enjoying their work and this brighten up your day. The room is of reasonable size, clean and comfortable but certain furnitures and the bathroom fixtures is dated and need updating. The public toilet at the lobby is old and does not fit a hotel of this status. I also walked to Sheraton and Hyatt which is nearby and both hotels looked more modern. Although I can changed my stays to the newer hotels but there are just certain charm of this antique building that make me decide to continue to stay in this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel on three separate occasions in May and each time the staff were wonderful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The food and drinks in the club lounge are pretty limited, but the view is beautiful.

Room Tip: Room on a high floor to be able to enjoy the view of the sea and the mosque.

We stayed here on our last stop on our tour of Morocco.
The staff especially in the breakfast room where excellent.
The rooms are tired and little dated and had a dusty smokey smell.
However, the safe on the room was anything but safe. I will attach a photo but the safe was not secured to anything and could be lifted out of the cupboard.
This is a very basic issue that should not happen!!
We should have reported it but ran out of time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us on TripAdvisor since you did not have time to do so during your stay.

Thank you also for highlighting our staff‘s genuine and careful attitude. We are happy to know that the Breakfast ambiance was up to your expectations.

We do apologize for the issues you have raised with regards to the room condition and the “not so safe “safe. Please rest assured that works are ongoing on a few rooms to give them a fresher look. Also, we have shared your concern regarding the in-room safe with the security department and it has been secured back into its place. Our guests’ security is very important to us, thank you for raising this concern.

It is unfortunate that you did not have enough time to let us know of these issues during your stay as we would have taken a satisfactory and immediate action.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Royal Mansour Meridien in the near future.

Warm regards,
Ibtissam Channani

I spent three nights there while I was attending a conference. The hotel staff were wonderful, helpful, smiling, nothing was spared in making one comfortable and well served. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices to satisfy all tastes, with continental and moroccan choices. The bakery is more than excellent (I believe I could have lived on the bread alone).
The old old decor is worth preserving with inlaid ceramics that Morocco is known for and carved wood panels and plaster, but definitely the lobby, reception and waiting areas in front of the lifts need to have new furniture and some paint.
The rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable beds, the furniture is quite nice although the fixtures in the bathroom is old but clean.
Its location is great as it is in the city center, the old medina and the train station with trains to the airport shuttle and the other cities in Morocco.
I will not hesitate to stay there if I visit Casablanca again

Room Tip: Rooms on the 8th floor facing the Ocean have a beautiful view of Hasan II Mosque and the ocean

I couldn't agree more with other reviewers about this property badly in need of refurbishment, the moment you enter the hotel lobby it smells mouldy. not a well begining for a four nights stay. reception staff was friendly and warm and offers you some comfort at least in meeting your needs. It is a centrally located hotel with Hyatt, Sheraton,Sofitel and Golden Tulip in close vicinity.decor takes you back in time only if they would have invested in maintaining it,decided to change the hotel after one night however changed the mind thanks to really caring attitude of the staff. once you enter the room you feel like travelling in fifties as old and run down ambience does not you give any warm feeling. Food was excellent at the breakfast buffet with traditional Moroccan breakfast as well as continental dishes offering a wide selection. Spa/fitness center was well managed and up to date. I had mixed feelings about the stay as I was impressed by the staff trying to exceed the expectations as if trying to make up for the shortcomings of a dull property. With all fairness to great service provided by the staff I can't help but point out that this hotel fails to impress, I also wonder how it has managed to retain its five star rating.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for sharing your comments with us on TripAdvisor.

Thank you also for highlighting our staff genuine and careful attitude which may give by itself the answer to your final question “How this hotel managed to retain its five star rating?”

The cleanliness of our hotel and the personalized service for each and every guest each and every day, remain our norms and values that made the fame of this worldwide excellence known property. And these values grant us the pride to be leading over the newly built hotels where no feeling of the warmth of home can be felt, nor can the exact care needed be found.

It is true that those very small details are what make the difference, and that is normal for the top-end of any hospitality business, which is missing elsewhere as our guests used to say when they try and visit the ‘‘new walls and bright lights’’, and come back to admit that nowhere is like HOME but here.

We are also happy to know that that the SPA, and the restaurants offers and ambiance were up to your expectations.

The Royal Mansour Meridien is always seeking to maintain its authentic classic aspect, while at the same time offering its guests a palatial blend of traditional Moroccan architecture with contemporary comforts and modern technology.

However, we do apologize for the issues you raised with regard to the entrance smell on that occasion and the room conditions and you may rest assured that works are ongoing on a few rooms to give them a fresher look, and that the source of the smell was identified as well and will be eliminated.

I sincerely hope that you will contact me at any time, on a future occasion at which time we will do our utmost to make amends.

Yours sincerely

PROS:
- Great service! Hotel staff was always helpful and accommodating during my week-long stay. They remembered me from day one and greeted me by name every morning & evening.
- Clean
- Large room

CONS:
- Rooms could be updated, especially the bathroom
- Location...hotel is in the center of town, but the immediate area is not very nice...you don't want to be walking around alone after the sun goes down
- SPG lounge is not great...limited food options, but friendly service and a nice view of the Hassan II mosque

We are sorry that the Club Lounge food offers, and the conditions of the room assigned for you this time, did not meet your expectations and hopefully we may rectify whatever specifically disappointed you, on a further visit.

Our concierge will hopefully look for the opportunity to recommend the best places to visit in Casablanca, or in the whole country, so, next time do not hesitate to just let him know.

We hope to have the occasion of welcoming you back in a not too distant future, and I look forward to seeing you at that time.
