The Royal Mansour offers more or less everything you'd expect from a good business-class hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortably furnished. The staff was helpful and friendly and the food in the Moroccan restaurant was fine. We spent just one night here after having spent the previous six nights in riads in Marrakesh and Essaouira. The Royal Mansour naturally could not match those places for local charm or quality of food. And the city itself is pretty awful after the charm and character of smaller Moroccan cities. I think the hotel bills itself as a typical Moroccan hotel but of course this is completely wrong. The Royal Mansour is a clone of just about any other high-rise business hotel that you'd find in any other big city, and sometimes that's just what you want. I agree with other reviewers that the staff could win some big points if they'd help guests handle the tricky stuff of getting taxis, negotiating prices, and generally offering advice on how to cope with the local mentality. Also, a pet peeve of mine, the internet service was slow and expensive -- 30 euros for 24 hours. Why a hotel like this doesn't offer free internet is a mystery to me. Anyway, I would recommend it for anyone passing through Casablanca on their way somewhere else, but if you're looking for Moroccan charm, better to try a riad in the Medina.
