“Great location, decent room, not the best service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I asked for a non-smoking room at the front desk and was given a room that smelled like smoke, so I had to return back down to get another room. Apparently no check is done after a guest checks out to make sure the non-smoking room passes muster. The room I was given didn't have towels, and in the middle of blow-drying my hair in just my underwear, a maid just opened my door (potentially I didn't hear the knock?) to bring in towels. I've never been walked in on like that at a hotel before. No one speaks English at the front desk after the day service leaves. On the plus side, the breakfast is great - French and Moroccan breads, yogurt, boiled eggs, awesome cafe au lait.

This is by no means a budget hotel - but neither is it a particularly expensive one. I paid 90 Euros for a stay of two nights. I get the impression that the great majority of guests stay for one or two nights only and that the reason they choose this hotel is because it is right next door to the main station in town, Casa Voyageurs. I would describe the atmosphere inside the hotel as bustling, with a great deal of 'va et vient'. That said and done, security is quite tight.

My room was a fair size, with a very comfortable king-sized bed. The furnishings were simple but contemporary and the lighting was quite subdued. The bathroom was also a decent size and there was always hot water. There was satellite TV in the room and free Internet access, via wi-fi. I would say, however, that the carpeting needs replacing; it was not pleasant to walk on in bare feet, being somewhat sticky underfoot! Otherwise, the standard of cleanliness was high. My room (see attached photograph) overlooked the busy station precinct, but I found the soundproofing adequate. The staff were pleasant enough, though inevitably I could detect a some what blase feeling of 'here today, gone tomorrow'!

Breakfast was not included in the room rate. There is a restaurant (as well as a bar) in the hotel and the view of the gardens from it is very attractive. I had breakfast and dinner there and was quite satisfied with the quality of both of them.

There is a tram stop a minute's walk from the hotel, which is helpful, as I don't think that there are many decent restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I would warmly recommend La Bodega, a lively Spanish-style restaurant close to the Marche Central stop.

I would certainly consider staying at the Ibis Casa Voyageurs, as I have no problem with being 'processed' - but would definitely book online, as there is quite a difference between online and rack rates.

the room was pretty good, clean, with a good internet connection... completely satisfied. just the price is a little bit high, fur sure because you are just near the rail station. The rail station in fact is the cause of the frequent noise, not the trains, but some kind of engine always switched on!

The best feature of this hotel is its location close to the train station. It is amazing to run away of all those train station´s taxi drivers just heading to the hotel. By the other hand, as soon as I arrived there, I met one not very nice front desk employee: he wanted to do thousand things at the same time and violently inserted my credit card in the terminal, in one of the many attempts in a bad connection day. He could brake my credit card in my first day of trip! The room is small, but it is okay. The floor was kind of wet and something smelled bad, but I could not figure out what it was. Well, I had already booked this hotel for my last night in Morocco, right before my flight back home. This was the main thing: I just checked, walked a little bit and waited for my train. It is good to remember that, in this second stay, I met a friendly staff and there was nothing smelling bad in the room. But there was one bad thing: some holes of the shower were not working. So, I had to take that long shower with little water. Despite of small things, the hotel was an average one.

As others have said this is a great location very close to both the train station and the tram line. The sheets and towels were clean but the carpet is very old, stained and dirty. The bar is nice but a bit smoky and seems to be popular. The restaurant and food serve good, average meals. Breakfast is a typical euro buffet with breads, meats and cheeses, not a wide selection but adequate.

I chose the hotel because of it's location near the train station. The convenience of the location is excellent. But the location also lends itself to a lot of noise. If you're looking for a quiet night sleep this isn't the place. The rooms are very nice and clean, but for the price of each room I expected them to have toothpaste and other small hygiene products. These weren't available in my room. This is a great hotel if you're looking for clean rooms, a hot shower, TV, all at a convenient location. But if you're looking for a hotel where you can pamper yourself a little, go elsewhere.

Staying at this hotel was a last minute decision. We chose the hotel because it was so conveniently close to Casa-Voyageurs train station. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet, but slightly overpriced if you don't have a big appetite.
