“excellent hotel for vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

A sophisticated hotel with beautiful decor alongside top-level service. The hotel is old but very well renovated. The rooms are very nice and the beds exquisitely comfortable. Most rooms do have quite nice and large balconies and if you are high enough and on the sea side, you will enjoy

This hotel was okay. Nothing to write home about, but decent. Pros were that service was pretty good (though some staff were indifferent and it showed), we got upgraded to a suite, the suites have good amenities and a modern bathroom. Cons were that some of the room decors can be very cheesy and not the type of decor a business traveller prefers to have while in Morocco. Feels a bit like Las Vegas instead so I would favor a hotel with more traditional decor. Also, internet access was free which is good, but very poor. It kept dropping which is not good for business guests. The restaurant is not very good at all. The decor down there is horrible (like out of the Adams family), and the food not very good. Also, the breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired. So overall decent, but overpriced.

We booked this hotel because of the 40th anniversary of my parent's wedding. With six persons it was quite expensive. But what we've got for that amount of money was really terrible! The sheets of my parents bed where very dirty with - I don't want to know. After we told the hotel manager about this he promised us to solve it. But in the 4 days we stayed the sheets were never changed. Even when we asked him again. In the night there's loud music in the bar till 02.00 PM. We were on the second floor and we were shaking in our beds. We informed the receptionist. For ten minutes the volume was turned down. But after ten minutes, they turned the volume up again. Even with earplugs it was not possible to sleep. The website and booking.com said there was a gym, but there isn't. All of our three bathrooms were dirty. The staff isn't friendly at all. And in the spa we didn't get what we payed for.

Room Tip: If you read my review and still choose to go here, don't take a room on the first, second or thi...

Pros:

1- Very friendly staff, specially at the front desk
2- Upon arrival, I was upgrade from a Junior Suite to a full suite, named Edith Piaf, which was was huge and very well decorated.
3- The bed was extremely comfortable and and of very high quality
4- The location is very central, clean, and safe
5- my luggage was fetched from street and delivered to my room
6- easy and fast check-in and check-out
7- Room had 2 TVs, hair dryer, safe, espresso coffee machine (2 shouts), 2 complimentary water, WiFi ( weak/no signal in bedroom, but OK in seating room)

Cons:
1- No view whatsoever. Windows are only good to take light
2- The worst breakfast I tried in Morocco. Everything cold, breads are hard and there is no toaster. Limited selection. I would barely eat anything.
3- No towel rack, and no space around the sink to put your stuff (see my pictures)
4- shower and Toilet are separate and inconvenient.
5- I had a blocked drain on my first shower (very unpleasant). I reported it and got fixed.
6- The shampoo made my hair all standing up, I had to use my own

Bottom line, if you don't mind to sacrifice, view, breakfast, and convenience for luxury, large room, extremely friendly service, and a very nice bed then this is a place for you. Otherwise, you may not like it.

It was hard to fault this hotel...in fact I can't. The front desk staff were very helpful and welcoming and also gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner at a classy restaurant close by called Maison du Gourmet. It was exceptional, especially for our last night in Morocco where we wanted to treat ourselves.

We were upgraded to the "Julius Caesar" suite which was very roomy and had a huge comfortable bed, with embroidered cotton sheets, two TVs, a small bar and fireplace. Very luxurious. Free wifi throughout the hotel was great. Breakfast was good as well.

It really was a shame we only had one night here and didn't get a chance to experience the pool and spa facilities.

As we travel so much and stay in many different hotels we try and choose hotels that offer something a little different and this certainly fits the bill.

If we are to come back to Casablanca again I'm sure this hotel would be our first choice.

Room Tip: Reception staff can organise airport transportation for you with a taxi.

The hotel is top class though it keeps a homey feeling. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are so cozy, the lighting is well done. It is great to have Nespresso coffee machines in the room. The free wi-fi throughout the hotel is so convenient.
Minor Problems: difficult to find electrical outlets available in the rooms. No place to hang towels in the washrooms. Daily amenities were often missing because of "forgetfulness" of the waitresses
