Le Riad Restaurant, in the new medina of Casablanca, has everything you might want in a Moroccan restaurant. We pretty much stumbled upon it our first night in Morocco, where we had harira soup, Moroccan salad, tagine of chicken with preserved lemon, and a vegetable couscous. Everything was excellent. The portions were so plentiful the two of us couldn't finish even half of it. Service was more than friendly, and the Moroccan decor of tilework walls and floors and plasterwork ceilings was a great introduction to our trip. When we returned to Casablanca ten days later, more experienced in the ways of the country, we decided to return to Le Riad as well. This time, not wanting to waste food, we ordered less: one harira soup, one Moroccan salad, and one *small* tagine of chicken with olives (both small and large sizes are available). The total cost of this food was MAD 42--less than $6 US. Service was once again quite friendly and helpful. And once again, though we tried, we couldn't quite finish the volume of food, excellent though it was. What a great way to begin and end the Morocco tour!
