Average hotel. Big rooms. dark corridors. ok for business traveller - free internet so good. Not for holiday. Gym opens at 9 a.m which is shocking. Spa was good. I asked for my telephone to be changed in my room, 3 times but no avail. Some staff helpful.

Housekeeping need to knock and check before opening a room.

By my opinion the hotel is really well-located, as it's possible to walk to medina and some other destinations of the city. The room are quite big and comfortable with some mixture of morocoon and modern style. The restaurant is recently rennovated and has a good look. The food is a good quality and the choice is good. The food is OK. The view from the windows is beautifull, especially during the evening and night time,The hotel has SPA.
Diwan hotel is good as for tourists,as well, as for business travellers.

This hotel was old but had been recently re-done. The lobby and restraunt area were very modern looking. the rooms, while spacious, were very dated. The dinner offerings were excellent and the service great! Breakfast however was bleak....The main issue with the hotel was the lack of any sort of soundproofing. When a room next door used the shower, it sounded like it was in our room. Every noise echoed in the halls and the street noise was very loud. The rooms had special ammenities like shampoo, toothbrush, razor, bathrobes atc but the plumbing was old and towel racks were falling off the walls. I feel that the hotel has a lot of potential but needs some better management. The staff was friendly but disorganized. Our wake up call was 25 minutes later than requested. Right after we arrived the maid came into the room under the pretense of checking towels while spraying a deoderizer....very odd. Thankfully we just spent one sleepless night here before catching our flight home.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2008

I had chosen this hotel because I thought it would have more Morrocan "flavor" than the big chains. While there were some positives, the negatives won out in the end. The rooms are very large, if a little sparse, and the bathrooms are quite big. My room had a balcony overlooking the street and a bit of the harbor. The location is ok, within walking distance of the medina (such as it is), the Casa port train station and the 5 star hotels. However, the hotel clearly caters to bus tours and, as such, the service is appalling. If you aren't at breakfast the second it starts (where you will have to battle several bus loads of Europeans), there will be nothing left later. As in all of Morocco, smoking is not only permitted but encouraged in all restaurants and public areas and for us non-smokers, the experience was extremely unpleasant. There was supposed to be a fitness center - which is a spa, not a gym (by North American standards). Yes, there are over 370 channels of satelitte TV but 360 of them are Arabic porn, the only english is (ironically) Al- Jarzeria english news channel. The entire hotel is marble, so the sound echos throughout the halls. The second the bus tours wake up and start loading out of their rooms, believe me you will hear every second of it.

There are a number of large foreign chains near by - try one of those instead.
