“Quality, not quantity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

To echo previous comments within reviews listed here, this is a great hotel with so many great elements.

To begin, it is very new - characterised by complete attention to detail from a design perspective and the cleanliness around this in every area. It is only a small hotel, nestled between some of the predicatable dinosaurs synonymous with such resorts (and clearly in the middle of yet more being constructed) yet acts as a total oasis from the brash beachfront A/I hotels in Agadir.

The salt water pool was a complete surprise and after a day of getting used to it has now become something to seek out in future dwellings.

The service on every team is second to none, and every member of staff is always looking happy and busy. There is a process in place for everything and there is a great sense of pride demonstrated everywhere onsite.

We neglected to eat dinner at the restaurant but endulged in lunches most days and breakfast every day - both very enjoyable.

Our holiday started fairly badly in the heat and hustle of Marrakech in very dated accomodation, however from literally walking through the Timoulay's doors, our holiday began.

This hotel comes with a very strong recommendation for the more discerning traveller with a contemporary outlook who would appreciate the finer things without a big price tag.

5 days of excellent services: we booked 4 rooms and we were given superior rooms no extracharge. Food was excellent, to mention that drinks were not included but you can buy.
The stuff always prepared to be there for you: a very lovely surprise was a big cake and flowers for a friend of us who was celebrating her birthday and somehow the restaurant manager overheard some greetings.
You can exchange money at the reception, but I recommend exchanges houses from the center- better exchanging rate.
The beach is 5 minutes away, in the center you can reach by taxi (not expensive but you have to ask first the price), a mini train -you can see a lot of Agadir or by step, you can walk about 20 minutes.
The hotel can also help you with the transfer from the airport to hotel if you ask for this before arrival. I mention that Timoulay has a spa center, a bar where some evenings you can enjoy the shows (dancers, music). There also is a mini pool for children near the hotel's pool.
An excellent vacation, I strongly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: ask for quite rooms, in the front of the hotel were some constructions

We stayed at the Timoulay during July-August for two weeks. The hotel was lovely, spotless, the room was cleaned every day thoroughly as well as the rest of the hotel building. The pool area was very pretty and clean. There were comfortable sofa type loungers and plenty of sunbeds (you never had a problem getting a space) also towels were provided daily which you could use at the pool or take to the beach. The pool area was the perfect place to chill out in the sun. The restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was very nice, you could order omlettes etc at breakfast and there was plenty of choice at dinner. The evening entertainment was mostly low key with a very friendly singer but some evenings were a little more lively with traditional Moroccan dancing. There is a small library of books in the hotel which was a nice touch. This is a very small hotel with only 58 rooms and doesn't have much activity for children, e.g. there is no table tennis or daytime enterainment. However, there were quite a few children staying there whilst we were and they had plenty of fun around the pool area! We personally didn't visit the spa in the hotel but were told by other guests that it was lovely and the treatments very good. We would highly recommend this hotel for a quiet and relaxed holiday. In regards to Agadir as a holiday destination: be aware that there is 'summer fog' which meant that the first week of our holiday was overcast and sometimes windy/cold.....the second week (from 1st Aug) was much better with lots of sunshine. Timoulay is a 5 mins walk from the beach which is very long and pretty in parts but other parts of the beach needs attention. Agadir as a whole doesn't have much of a nightlife - there are limited places to drink alcohol in the evenings unless you go to a club which isn't lively until 1am. If you go to Agadir, you must visit Marakech on a day trip as we had a brilliant time and shows a completely different Moroccan culture. Its also baking hot there!
One area for improvement for Timoulay is the beds! We had a twin room which were two beds pushed together....this would be fine if the beds weren't on wheels, which meant they separated during the night! You could invest in some new ones, other than that great hotel! :)

Stayed here for 10 days on our family holiday. Far better than we'd ever seen before in a holiday hotel. Truly fantastic food. Top notch room and friendly helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you.
For a quiet no-hassle holiday this is the place to go.
The hotel is surrounded by very large hotels, but I am still sure none of them could match the Timoulay for service and cleanliness. Free WiFi a major plus point, though surrounding area a bit boring. Beach is 500m away and very nice.

All well especially the graciousness of the staff and the fantastic spa, gaspingly low prices for treatments...Unfortunately the hotel is located on the outskirts of Agadir where there are modern hotels being built in the midst of rambling slums. The town of Agadir is also not very attractive (it was a stop for us on the way to Essaouria). At this hotel you are in an isolated paradise but one can't help but being affected by the ramble on the way. The hotel matches its photos.

Room Tip: ask for a courtyard room overlooking the pool

Whilst the location is not too great, the hotel itself, the rooms, the pool, the restaurant and bar are first rate. The food, we thought, was excellent, with loads of variation; the freshly cooked waffles, with chocolate or honey, were to die for :-))
Going to Agadir? You could do a lot worse than staying at the Timoulay!!

Room Tip: Top floor, centre, gives the best views

Stayed at the Timoulay Hotel from 4th - 18th July with friends. The bedroom, bathroom and balcony were large, with nice décor and the safe deposit box is free of charge. The whole hotel and pool is very clean and well run. All staff are friendly; The restaurant Manager runs an efficient and well organised restaurant at breakfast and dinner. Bar staff and waiters/waitress are very attentive. Maids do a very good job, rooms are kept extremely clean. The entertainment consisted of two guys singing in English, French and Arabic, playing the piano, and guitar. There are also traditional dancers once a week. The entertainment starts at around 7:30pm and should finish at 11pm, but unfortunately on several occasions they stopped performing early, if they were not many people around to listen, which was annoying at times. The hotel itself is extremely peaceful which is nice but could do with some piped music in the bar and restaurant, as you could hear a pin drop sometimes!......We did tip the bar staff when serving, this is expected everywhere and you get better service if you do. We miss our little snacks and cocktails at the bar every evening! At the end of our holiday we left tips in our room for the maids and for a waiter in the restaurant who was particularly attentive.....The hotel is across a road and down a slight hill to the beach approx 300mtrs. The prom is about 2 miles long and a lovely walk with places to stop for drinks and ice creams on the way. We went to the Kasbah where the ruins of the old city is, fixing a price of 150dh with the taxi driver, for four people. He took us to the top, waited 20 mins and brought us back. Always agree a price on everything before you buy, eat or get in a taxi...... We did several trips with Thomson; 1: Camel ride - has to be done if you have never been on one, it was good fun. 2: Went to Marrakesh which is a 3hr journey on a coach (all day and evening trip), visited a palace, went to a nice restaurant, to a herbalist, around the souk (market) lanes and into the main square. Then to another restaurant for dinner and entertainment and back to the square before departing. This was a good experience but a very busy day in a hectic city. 3: Fantasia experience; eating and drinking in Moroccan tents and watching a belly dancer, various other bands and traditional dancing whilst eating. Then an outside show of acrobats and men on horses firing guns. Outside is not as good as the entertainment in the tents, but a good night had by all. 4: Atlas Mountain 4x4 trip, this was our favourite trip. Going to traditional villages, Paradise Valley, up into the Atlas Mountains and seeing the waterfall. On a donkey ride and then having lunch at Cascades Hotel which has lovely views. On the way back the ladies show the different processes of the Argan nut with a chance to buy if you like.......We did enjoy our holiday in Agadir but quickly came to realise that nothing is free here. If you ask for help or directions etc you will be expected to pay (tip) for it. You do get hassled quite a bit by people trying to sell various items but this is their livelihood and you just say "no thank you" if you do not which to buy. If you go to the souks be prepared for nearly every stall holder trying to sell to you and the unfortunate beggars... P.S. We bought a Tagine in the Marjane supermarket, cheaper than we could buy it at the souk!

Room Tip: Most rooms have pool and/or sea view and we did not hear any building works.
