ok well the argana hotel is not a 4 * hotel at all. I have just come back from morocco myself and my boyfriend went, and to be hones firstly i wouldnt reccommend morocco it is so boaring, theres nothing to do, the tours that there are to do are really bad, everything over there is money, money, and more money, they try to rip the tourest off so much, you have no idea, if you are ordering food make sure you get a reciept as we found a lot of people were trying to charge us without showing a reciept, so be carefull of that.

anyway about the argana hotel, we arrieved there and were waitring at reception for the guy to get off the phone to check us in, after about 6 mins we got checked in, we went upstairs to our room...... there was two single beds in it, so we asked to be changed to a double room, that was ok, went to the next room which was a connecting room, it was reallt small, there was no fridge in the roon, it was only average clean, there were tiles in the room not a bit of carpet in sight - horrible, there was a tv we thaught this was great, when we turned it on everything was in arabic apart from sky news so this was abit crap not a goos start to the holiday the only good thing about our room was that we could see the pool.

we could hear the couple next dooe snooring and what ever else it was horrible. when we asked at the reception about haveing no fridge in the room the guy shrugged his shoulders and siad nothing, we didnt even bother saying anything about the connecting room because we were so discusted we just kept saying - it cant get any worse but believe me it did.

people working at the hotel were great if you TIP every single time you order something and if you dont TIP your totally ignorred, the cleaners were the same if we TIPPED we go an extra pillow and our clothes were nicely folded if we didnt the pillow was gone.

as you can see i wouod not reccomment this hotel, seriously it is not a 4* theres a gym and a sauna and a spa but you have to pay to use everything, and there way too over prised.

i wouldnt reccomment this atall

good luck

Previous reviews of the Argana were helpful, we knew what to expect on check in. Most reviews turned out to be fairly accurate; we had a lovely room, no complaints there; but other guests had to move because of faulty showers, door handles, poor sound-proofing. The pool area was perfect for a week of lazing around in the sun, well maintained with helpful staff and enthusiastic entertainment team. The spice and jewellery sellers were present at the entrance to the pool area but they kept a low profile and did not bother us. Breakfast was reasonable but after 3 or 4 days the same old selection became a bit tired. Lunch at the poolside area was a mixed bag, some salads freshly made and very good, some old and tired. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We quickly came to understand however that their friendliness and helpfulness was directly related to the extent to which we lined their palms with dirhams! When we tipped the pool attendant our sun beds were laid out and waiting for us the next morning, when we didnt tip him our sunbeds were pointedly allocated to other guests, despite the fact that there were lots of spare beds. We tipped the cleaning staff, we received bath robes, we didnt tip the cleaning staff, the bathrobes disappeared! Guests quickly learn how to play the tipping game. So if this practice bothers you don't stay in the Argana and don't go to Agadir!! Be aware that the lane at the side of the hotel is not a pleasant place to walk through after dark. It is badly lit and we met some drunk and unpleasant characters one night there at about 10.30pm. Bit scary. If you feel you would be bothered by the constant low grade hassle by virtually all sellers of goods and services in Agadir, dont go. If you want a nice relaxing week of lying in the sun with good service and friendly staff, do go! Two good restaurants; a lebanese one opposite the Atlas Hotel, lovely food, lovely service (no alcohol). Also the well known "La Scala" which is gorgeous but busy so book ahead and they will ferry you to and from the restaurant by courtesy minibus.

this is marketed as a 4* HOTEL - IT IS NOT A 4* HOTEL COMPARED TO ALL THE OTHER LOCAL HOTELS THAT ARE 4* HOTELS. A VERY GOOD 3* ONLY......

Clean - basic and central......boring breakfast same every day......not pool services to your bed : (

No kiddies club- great

SPA not very clean........use the outside spa's cleaner and cheaper.......

We had no problem getting a taxi to and from the airport – I would certainly advise people to abandon the travel agency for two reasons: 1) Cheaper 2) You can choose your own flights so you can spend more time in Morocco! I had checked this website in advance of our holiday and learnt that there is a noise problem with the Argana Hotel, so I pre-packed ear-plugs and upon checking into the hotel, I requested that my room be higher up than the 1st floor and away from the main lobby and corridor area. I was given a family room which was the same as an ordinary double room with the exception of an extra door between me and the next room (which could be locked on both sides). All was well until I got into bed and realised that I could hear the couple behind the dividing door ... thank goodness I had ear-plugs! For the rest of the week I had to wear ear-plugs going to sleep ... there was no privacy between me and the strangers next door ... their snoring was driving me crazy! Also on my first night I realised that my balcony door didn’t close, however, reception immediately sent up a repairman, who worked on the door for an hour (up to 12:30am), after which it still didn’t work! The room was somewhat “well used” and in desperate need of updating and repair, but it was clean and the chambermaids were attentive and pleasant!
I found Hotel Argana very appealing ... it has a lovely clean swimming pool with a bar / cafe, a lovely spa (where I had the most wonderful treatments and massages!). The main bar looked like the interior of a ship however it was well run and the cocktails are delicious! It also had a Moroccan room and a gym (which was very well equipped, however I didn’t see a single person using it ... perhaps it was the cost of using it!). The main lobby had lovely Moroccan decor and the staff in reception were a delight ... we had continued good humoured conversations with them throughout the holiday and the head porter (who was dressed in traditional Moroccan style) had a permanent good attitude and a smile!
Unfortunately Hotel Argana did allow various people to sell items in the hotel and by the pool. The hotel is usually a sanctuary from pushy sellers, however, in this hotel you are constantly being harassed by sellers trying to sell you photographs, jewellery, etc on the way to the restaurant and spices and jewellery etc by the entrance to the pool! It got quite annoying.
Breakfast in the hotel was fairly basic when it came to cold foods, however, it did serve Moroccan tea, and freshly made omelettes ... then some mornings they served freshly made donuts, pancakes and a type of flat scone. Breakfast in the hotel was from 5:30am to 10:30am which was perfect if you had to get up early for a tour, however, they didn’t serve the hot food until aprox 8am!
Hotel Argana is fairly central and is a good base if you are into touring Morocco. Otherwise, it is a short walk to the beach and the shops, or if you just want to hang by the pool for the day.

Having just spend a week in this hotel all I can say is it has a lot of pros but a lots of cons aswell.
The hotel itself is fine ,we had booked a junior suite whice turned out to be just an ordinary room with about an extra 4ft added on to it.
I had expected at lease a seperate bedroom but this was not the case,
Apart from being hassled IN the hotel by people trying to sell you spices ,jewellery ect nothing much happens in the hotel. It is a very boring place with nothing to do but lie by the pool (it was spotlessly clean by the way) and that can get pretty dull after the first hour.
Going down to breakfast every morning you have to avoid eye contact with the sellers who are waiting to pounce, once you get to the dinning area the food on display is dismal to say the least.
The only hot food available are eggs or pancakes, again BORING after awhile.
Staff are there but dont go out of their way to greet or smile only when they know you will be checking out and then it is all smiles and hand out for their tip
We were lucky enough to get in touch with moroccan discovery tours before we came over and they organised day and nite trips for us at a fraction of the cost some tour companys were charging.
We went to chems ayour,a full day cruise, tour of the atlas mountains ect ect
I could not recommend them enough as if it was,nt for Graham and his 4x4 taking us out and about I would have died of boredom.
