Really nice modern hotel with friendly staff and 5 mins walk from the beach and all of the entertainment. Lovely pool area and lots of nice places in the hotel to hang out and relax. Rooms are modern and well appointed. Breakfast is fine with an option to order items not on the standard menu. One of the nicest hotels we stayed in while in Morocco.

hello all! Just came back from a great trip to Morocco and while in Agadir, we stayed at Hotel Kamal. Not much new to say about this but i had to express my gratitude for this great hotel and extremely friendly staff! The hotel really is extremely clean and the location could not be better. Although the hotel is showing it´s age a bit, the cleanliness, the location, a very nice pool area, the lovely staff, good restaurant and almost everything about it more than makes up for it. Highly recommended for a great hotel with a low price.

  • Liked — the staff, location and the feel of the hotel.
  • Disliked — yes, the pool water could be warmer( but it sure freshes you up! )

have stayed at the kamal 4 times,Excelent ! friendly family run hotel ,very clean staff and owner would go out of their way to accomadate you .food good but simple ,breakfast continental but very substantial, you could get other food if you wish to pay but never found the need .A nice walk to the beach, across the road from the uniprix shop ,very handy for little trinkets, mini souk round the corner usual haggling but thats the fun of morocco! rooms are spacious very cleen, the cleaners are very friendly,so are all the staff ,cleanliness is brill no complaints from me !!. only the pool not being heated was the only downside ,but i dont think many hotels have heated pools in morocco . loved the hotel loved the staff ,very family friendly!, brill if you want to unwind in a quiet smaller hotel!! loved it reccomend to everyone try it !!

  • Liked — clean spacious good service quiet

Hotel Kamal was brilliant. The staff couldn't do enough for you and everywhere was absolutely spotless. Constantly being cleaned through out the day. The rooms were well equipped. I stayed on a B & B basis and the breakfast was basic ie bread, croissants and jam, tea and coffee, but you could pay for extra for food off the breakfast menu. There are plenty of places to eat around the area especially along the beachfront, which were very good and cheap. The hotel was situated in the middle of the town and could be quite noisy due to traffic which seems to be constant even in the early hours. I would definitely go again.

  • Disliked — Noise of Traffic

The hotel is situated on a very busy road and it can take a couple of days to get used to crossing the road!!
The hotel as said in other reviews "slightly dated" but very clean. Are room 115 which was just up a corridor from reception was quite big. We were surprised by the size. It had 4 single beds (we pushed 2 of the beds together, for myself and my husband). We had a dinning table and 4 chairs, a little coffee table by the childrens bed's and we over looked the pool area, which had a balcony with patio table and 2 chairs. The room was cleaned everyday and the beds made. The taps on the bath did need a very good clean, not dirty as such but dull, they really could of done with a new set on the bath. And it was a hand held shower which was awkward, so we had baths most of the time and used the shower head to wash our hair whilst sat in the bath.

I did hear a couple of guests ask to be moved as they were based out the front which over looked the main road, this i believe can be disruptive to ones sleep.

As mentioned in others reviews the breakfast is not good, for a family of 4 we had two plates of bread (croissants, french sticks and a wholemeal french stick) butter, which is limited, jam and marmalade.
You can order other things, the omelette was around 25dirhams which is £1.50ish, we did try the meat platter which was a waste on money and not nice. Just 3 bits of salami stuff!! You can get boiled eggs, orange juice ect.
Tea and coffee are fourth coming which was good.

The pool was freezing, i am a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold water anyway, but it did not bother the kids, although it did take some of the adults breath away when they got in. But you do get used to it and it can become a welcome relief from the heat. The pool area is very clean as the pool guy is a hard worker, do remember to tip him, he is a lovely guy and as soon as he sees you put your towel on your sun bed then he is their with the cushion.
Do watch out for the wasp's that hang around the bushes by the pool, my little one had a sting from one, he managed to pull the sting out.
Never worry about getting a sunbed as they have around 80-90 around the pool, enough for everyone.

We had our lunch around the pool each day, we had omlettes or cheeseburger and chips, or a sandwich. On average we spent around £12-15 per day on lunch, this included drinks. This was for a family of 4, and we are all big eaters.
We did find though in and around Morocco that the portions can be small compared to what we are used to. This is not the case with all meal's, but i found this with the spag bol or lasagne.
The pool side cafe is great, yes you may pay alittle bit more for some things but it is a good bar that sales food, drinks, larger and ice-cream, coffee and tea.

We also ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening on some nights (lovely food always), this was due to myself, husband and my boys feeling under the weather so not wanting to walk to far.
I had the most awful upset tummy for about 10 days, i did go to the chemist and they gave me some tablets which settled the pains, but in the end it was Imodium which worked!!
My husband to had a funny tum for 3 days and my little boy only suffered slightly for 2 days. Not sure what caused this, all the restaurants we ate in were all great and not one meal was awful or looked under cooked. Its was just one of those things.
We did try different restaurants each night, we found a good one called the queens which is take a right out of the hotel, keep on the same side as the hotel, walk down the road for 3-5mins, you will come to a fountain and the restaurant is in the corner behind the fountain.

The hotel staff really are wonderful, i had 3 of them wanting my little boy to live with them :)
The staff will make your stay very special, we have a life long friend in one of them and was very moved by his kindness on the last day. A very moving and treasured moment that will stay with us forever.

You can tip each day if you want but its up to you, not once did i ever feel pressured to. We tipped twice a week then a big tip at the end for some special ones.
Tipping is used everytime though when you go out to restaurants, but then saying that we did forget on the odd time and no-one looks down at you.

We did book our trips through our tour rep for 1st choice, thier did'nt seem to be a huge difference in price with all of the other trip/tour organisers. We spent around £520 on 3 trips, these where the 2 day Marrakesh trip, berber night and 4+4 trip. It may seem alot of money but when you base this on a family of 4 and break it down is is good value. This price included a stay in a 3star hotel in marrakesh with 3 meals, one of which was a 5 course meal. And again on the other trips this included the meals and some wondeful sights, and great tour guides.

I am not going to go back to agadir, just because it is a very big wide world we live in and lots to explore, but if i had to then yes i would only stay at the kamal.
