“Moroccan Experience AGADIR”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

On holiday in Marocco in the HOTEL RYAD MOGADOR AL MADINA PALACE AGADIR ****. We booked up with Onthebeach which listed this as a 5 star hotel. I must say that I have stayed in many 5 star hotels all around the world and this does not come up to the 5 star rating given. The Hotel layout is not very user friendly and if you had mobility problems you would have considerable difficulty negotiating the public areas, especially if you were in a wheelchair or have difficulty walking up and down stairs. There is a VERY limited lift facility which does not serve any purpose. Firstly you need to use stairs to get to the lift and all it does is get you to a level which requires you to negotiate yet more stairs. If you are in an unfortunate situation where your room was not in the middle of the complex then noise pollution from the road and surrounding night life will keep you awake until at least 3am in the morning. Our room was situated at the side of the hotel and we were kept awake at night by the noise from the road and a pedestrian short cut from the beach road to the town centre. This short cut is used by the revellers leaving the various night clubs when they closed at 2 pm. The air conditioning in our room was also very antiquated and did not function adequately – so not only was our room noisy but also very hot making sleep difficult. (They are building 2 night clubs next door which will be open soon).
The breakfast was a buffet with not a great deal of choice for a 5 star rating and you needed to be very alert and watchful as the food was taken very quickly. Some dishes were replenished when staff had time, but the chefs seemed to be fighting a losing battle!!. If you were a late starter even within the breakfast time-frame things got worse as the limited choice means you have to have what was left. The Dinner was also a free for all rush so we decided to eat out for the rest of our stay. The one very positive thing about the hotel is the staff who could not be more helpful and polite. They always greeted the guests with a courteous smile and demeanour. Morocco Agadir has a great deal to offer and with some thought by the appropriate authority can become a good destination for holiday makers as well as the Moroccans who live here.

Room Tip: Choose room in centre of complex as it will allow you to sleep better.

Well where do I start, I am by no means posh or expecting anything special but when I steped into this hotel I found the reception staff quite aloof and none of them spoke very much English. There is no information in the reception in English and none of the tour guide books are in English either. The hotel itself should be classed as no good at all for disabled as myself being that way I know how difficult it has been. The key for the door works when it wants to, as does the safe which I have had to change 3 times now. The cleaner is sweet but she does not do much in the rooms. Service by the pool is a chore again with English hardly spoken. Wifi can only be got if you sit up in reception which is okay. I do agree with one lady who said the waiters do expect tips... Always try and give the right amount or give enough that you do not mind getting the change back. I will say Abdul who waits in the morning and evening is very attentive to customers and normally runs round checking everyone is okay.
Overall to hotel is quite clean and the lift works when it wants to but is a godsend when you can not get up and down steps very well.
Nice for families and couples but not any good for disabled people.

We arrived to find a very tradional moroccan hotel indeed like steppig back i n time,we were due to stay 4 weeks on a hlaf bouard basis unforrtunelately my husband died in the UK that very night so my vaction was cut very short...They treated me and my daughter like queens in the resturant a hotel id definately return to once everything is settled here in the UK....The reception staff werent the friendlyiest but all the resturant and cleaning staff made up for there rudeness at times...I must say my daughter stayed on and the resturant staff especially the manager and hasan had to be fully credited....Tcleaner of our room was beautifulhe pool staff and humble people ...You must visit this hotel and Agadir its full of beautiful places, beaches, friendly people, child safe ...Only drawback was all the steps not for disabled ....Happy holidays we were disabled and they did allow us to use there service lifts which helped a great deal Suzette Harris and Joan Papworth

Room Tip: lower patio rooms on the reception floor

too much to go into... so I'll keep it brief:
-the staff- bar a couple of them were not very nice and did not provide a good service.
-Hotel room was dirty and not up to standard, we had to request a change of room
-hotel restaurants were closed without any notice or advisory on website
-Terrible selection of food. Only 6 options to chose from and it was very repetitive. Do NOT expect a full continental breakfast either it was the same food day in day out with very limited choice
-no evening entertainment, hotel was empty... I understand why!

only positive... the beach was very close...

Not worth the money.

Do not stay at this hotel you will be brutally disappointed

Hotel is 4*, I would grant it 3* in European standards. But it is comparable to 4* hotels in Egypt. We had great view over the ocean, room was very spacious, bathroom and WC also big. A lot of place for luggage, clothes etc. The balcony was however really small (to be honest you can only open the doors and this is all).
What I did not like:
- wifi only in lobby
- bathroom was not very clean - hairs of other guests or maids (??) in the bathroom and in WC not cleaned for 3 days (sic!)
- fridge was out of order
- poor selection of TV channels - mainly Arabic
- no facilities on the beach

We were on HB basis. Only the first day both meals were fine. Next days it was just the same (no meat for breakfast) and supper was mainly Moroccan - tajins and chickens. Desserts are great. You must pay extra 20 MAD per drinks for supper - bottle of water or cans or juices are available.
Pool is rather small, but sunbeds for all guests are available.

Generally it is interesting place if you want to spend your holidays in Agadir. It is quite cheap comparing to other hotels in Agadir.

Room Tip: ask fo rocean view - we had no. 130

Just back after 1 week stay at the ryad mogador (15th to 22nd June 2013), a very last minute booking for us. The hotel: the hotel is very clean and the rooms are very spacious , ours was placed very well with a balcony which was nice. It is true that the hotel is in need of a lick of paint and possibly some new or refurbed furniture but after saying that it is very reasonably priced .
The food: well the food is typical holiday company tick box all inclusive/half board fodder sadly very little local cuisine on offer, but when there was it was thoroughly enjoyable. the deserts are fantastic, made by an up and coming kitchen worker (who tells me he is not yet a chef) . The breakfasts are large buffet, breads, cakes, cereal, cheese and meat, scabled eggs? Boiled eggs and grilled tomatoes, semolina soup.
The staff: I have read varying reviews on here re the staff, well in my experience the staff are fantastic, they are friendly, hard working, welcoming and so very very happy to have you there it is a breath of fresh air. Not one bad experience, cursed look or abrupt moment did we witness, these staff make this hotel a pleasure to visit, if I judged it on the staff alone I would give it 5 stars.
My view on the whole hotel is a 2 1/2 to 3star purely because it needs an upgrade and some TLC. Owners of the ryad need to invest in this as I believe if they did coupled with the loyalty and the commitment from the staff would make this place a gold mine that would soon earn a 5 star rating.
Agadir itself is lovely when you are off the beaten track, the town itself a little to built up for me, nightclubs, bars , McDonald's etc, i appreciate this would suit more people though.
Yes I would recommend it as a holiday destination but I would recommend you do some research before you go.

My family & I just got back from a week's stay at Ryad Mogador Agadir, its suppose to be a 4* hotel but in my opinion its not even worthy of 1* the staff were very unfriendly & unhelpful,as i requested an iron only to be told that the hotel does not have an iron, i've never known a hotel without an iron. Room service was terrible the leaner had just put towels in the bathroom that were actually dirty & breakfast really didn't meet up to standard, I've stayed in a 3* hotel and the breakfast was 100 times better, so glad I had only booked for half board. The swimming pool wasn't any better either. Rating this hotel 1* as far as i am concerned is too good it should be rated as-5*. I'm not one to complain normally but this time I just had to let others know what they are paying for. I could go on the list is endless but I have only touched on the main points.

Room Tip: just do not even stay at this hotel - respect your money
