“Amazing staff, great food and big rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile

We are a family with one ten year old and have visited Agadir a few years ago and feel this is one if our best holidays ever.
I have never stayed at a hotel where the managers are wandering around talking to guests constantly. The staff seem really happy in their jobs and so keen to make your holiday really special.
We arrived on 22nd July and initially there was a big mixture of nationalities...... There were no problems and I think the variety of nationalities meant people were fairly evenly dispersed in terms of when they used the restaurants so no queues for tables or food. More guests ( mainly English) have arrived and the hotel now feels fuller, and at times, everyone seems to be wanting to eat earlier so the dining room seems a bit busier. Staff have remained incredibly helpful and polite whilst coping with the extra numbers.
The rooms( ours is a standard) are big. My only quibble is the rooms are not great at being sound proofed and if, like us you have neighbours who let doors slam despite the time of day, you may be woken at night and/ or in the mornings.
There is wifi in many parts of the building. The pools are clean and warm. There is the usual scramble for prime sun beds, but there are loads on the beach too.
There are bars everywhere you turn and branded spirits.
We would certainly look to come again. We booked our flights and hotel ourselves and saved £100's on tour company prices but did book last Nov to make those savings.

Visited recently for a week's family holiday. First ever resort style holiday so hard to compare to other places. Highlights for me were the excellent swimming pools and poolside area. Plenty of sporty activities from pétanque to aquafit classes. The buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner was varied and tasty and the rooms were comfortable and clean, our third floor view of the pool was great. The staff were great, especially Omar in the dining room!
Lowlights, the evening entertainment was embarrassingly amateur, so evenings were spent in the hotel lobby. The specialist a la carte Moroccan restaurant was disappointing but try Le Mauresque close by for the real deal. The kids club was of no appeal to my 7 year old son, but that was OK since we went out and about most days anyway.
All in all relaxing.

For us this was an amazing holiday. The cleaning staff worked relentlessly, the bar and waiting staff were very attentive regardless of your nationality or if they were tipped, the food was good, my partner is very fussy and always found something he liked. The only thing that let the hotel down was the entertainment, for us it wasn't too bad but for families or people wanting a party atmosphere I think they might be a little disappointed. All in all a great relaxing holiday for us

What can I say what an excellent hotel, Food was amazing it was my boyfriends birthday and he was greeted by rose petals on the table very attentive staff a beautiful cake and a birthday song. The staff were all excellent nothing was too much trouble, Riu made sure our room had champagne, fruit and cakes on arrival felt really spoilt.
Although we paid for all inclusive we still tipped nearly every day just 20 dirhams to the person you feel gave you good service, this is only around £1.20 and well worth it and a thank you to all the staff goes a long way some holiday makers forgot their manners!!!!
Drinks and cocktails are fabulous but be warned they are very strong and I had to order an extra coke to water it down. The Cuba libres were the best I ever had.
The hotel rep was a local man who was fantastic and we visited the souk and haggled most mornings and got some real bargains. If you don't like haggling and local culture and prefer a loud noisy hotel then this is not for you, however if you want a relaxing week with beautiful tasty food(especially the desserts) and good chilled rose and cava served in ice buckets while you people watch then this is the place for you.
We will be back in October for another week of total relaxation at this beautiful spa hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms here are beautiful and spacious

Just returned home from a week's stay at the Riu Palace Tikida, Agadir. Very disappointing holiday, Food is of a good quality but it is monotonous. Both Riu and Thomson should stop misrepresenting this hotel as having three a la carte restaurants as the Italian is anything but and is the same food served again in the evenings as at lunch time and is just the same buffet. Trying to book one of the restaurants in this hotel is a thankless task. We contacted the hotel prior to leaving the Uk to say that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and asked if we could reserve a table at one of the a la carte restaurants but this request was denied. On arriving we again tried to book a table but were told that this wasn't possible until the next day, only to find that bookings were permitted some considerable time in advance and there was very poor availability left for the duration of our week's stay. Having said that the experience we had of the food at the Krystal restaurant was so disgusting we wouldn't recommend it at all. Also, they offer only a few tables for each evening and then say the restaurant is full when it clearly isn't.

On another note the 'entertainment' in this hotel is the very worst I have ever experienced in over 30 years of travelling. It is excruciatingly dire and should either be pulled completely or totally overhauled. The entertainment area is bland, dark and totally uninviting and has the ambience of a 1960's flea pit cinema. Evenings are centered around the lobby and give the feeling of being in a London hotel full of business men drinking and is not a great place to sit and interact with fellow guests or for children. The waiting staff are on the whole pretty good with Tarik at the Italian / snack bar and Rashid at the pool bar deserving a special mention. Occasionally some were a little dismissive of me, being a woman ordering a drink but this is par for the course at the type of hotels in Northern Africa.

Thomson also collect you from the hotel at 5.30pm to undertake a 30 minute journey back to airport which, with a 21.50 pm flight is ridiculously early.

The pool area is very clean and we were able to get a four-poster sun bed each day which our daughter enjoyed. The room had a great pool and sea view and was very well maintained and the fridge was restocked each day. Selection of drinks was good and the free flowing Cava was a decent quality and very drinkable (including at breakfast). The wine is limited to what the hotel chooses to serve and no other wine menu is provided. The red wine is an acquired taste!

Whether or not you enjoy this type of hotel and the dark interior surroundings of the restaurants etc will depend on other hotels and experiences you might have had. We have travelled extensively and stayed in truly awe inspiring hotels such as the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi and the Ca'sagredo in Venice but have tried to compare this hotel with others similar in terms of facilities and cost and this one is sorely lacking. I would say that it is boring and that is not because we want pounding music or force fed pool games etc (far from it) but I don't really expect to be in a hotel so lacking in a holiday vibe that I end up going to sleep two hours earlier than I would at home. One other family staying at the same time as us mentioned that they went to bed each night at 9.30pm as there was simply nothing to do. If you want a few days relaxation then this might be ok for you but we won't be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a high level room and it is worth paying the extra for a pool view

Me and my family visited this hotel resort end of May 2014 for 6 days.
First impression when being dropped off outside the hotel was good. Clean and grand entrance area to the main reception.
The main reception was slightly busy as many other flights had arrived late evening.
Me and family were very tired from our long journey and disaster faced at Agadir airport (lost luggage!) so we wanted to eat and simply check in.
We were shown the main dining area and happy to see the sight of food. But arriving 10:30 pm at the hotel meant the food available was zero to none.

Next day we woke up for breakfast and was greeted to a good variety of foods! The great thing is if you miss the main breakfast you can also opt for the second timing of 11 am.
Lunch was not bad except the variety can be become some what boring after the 2nd day but this is expected of all inclusive.

Dinner was again a full on experience of lots of foods and yummy desserts.
Drinks from bars were sometimes local spirits and other times international brands depends which pool bar you went to.

Evening entertainment team work very hard to get everyone into the holiday mood (dance shows, artists and the piano player).

Swimming pool areas be warned crazy people wake up at 5 am to place towels in areas. This is really unfair and is something the hotel should not allow guests to do. Some guests would not turn up to the pool area for the whole day!

Now for the negatives....

* Due to the location of the hotel near the Marina bay local fisherman gut the caught sea once or twice a week. The remaining waste of the fish is left near the bay area and nearly 2-3 times a week the stench of fish guts fills the entire hotel resort which is horrible. I know it is something which the hotel cannot do to fix but you can imagine the smell when it is warm!

* Sofa bed very uncomfortable- I would recommend the hotel provides the single moving folding beds is available.

* Shower room- again not enough lighting which caused a family member to slip in the shower

* Do not request a room near the garden area on bottom floor. The garden area patio area will encourage mosquitoes into your room. The maintenance cupboards and cleaning crew all work in this area so early morning it can be very loud.

If you want a relaxing break for one week where you simply sit all day and eat then this is the place for you. Surrounding areas Agadir there is not much to do other than visiting the souks so for younger families it can become quite boring.

The hotel Manager was brilliant who advised us on the best souks and looked after all guests in a professional manner.

Our rooms were next door to each other on the lower floor but the lighting in this area needs to be much brighter. A couple of times we noticed broken glass on the corridor floor which guests could easily cut themselves on.

Room Tip: Do not choose a lower ground room.

Truly excellent hotel. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Excellent service and absolutely delicious food! Real cocktails are mixed in all bars, they look pretty and taste good. Premium drinks are also part of all inclusive.
Rooms are spacious and well air conditioned. Moroccan and fusion restaurants are great. Italian is buffet though, which i thought was wrong as there is buffet restaurant already and it occupies best spot right on a promenade.
Live entertainment every night (shows and singer or a band in main bar). I was a bit disappointed that live entertainment finished abound 11pm and around midnight it felt like retirement home. They even switched lights off around pool area at 11pm which was a shame as it is beautiful. Beach is other side of promenade, does not feel like part of hotel.
Overall excellent hotel that just needs to improve on entertainment.
