Recently arrived back from a 10 day holiday (July 2nd-12th) at this new Rui hotel and was totally impressed. On arrival the hotel seems to stand in a class of it's own with a beautiful exterior and an even more impressive interior. Arrived about 11.50pm and was handed a refreshing drink, quickly checked in at reception and then offered a cold buffet in the dining room. This was a nice touch as Thompson airlines seem to be going down the road of budget flights and charging outrageous prices for snacks and drinks on their aircraft.
Rooms first class only down side is the lack of draws but so what you have plenty of wardrobe space. Stocked fridge in the room with beer, water and fizzy drinks, also tea and coffee. I would say one thing there is occasional noise in the corridors late at night.
The pool area is lovely with plush sunbeds. There is the usual problem with the beds around the pool, (on my last day for example people putting towels out on beds at 6.30am, come on is this your holiday or not!!!). I was only up at this time as I was being collect for the airport at 7.45am. I think the management seemed to be aware of the problem, towards the end of my stay towels were being removed from beds when people hadn't returned to them on some occasions 3hrs later. The pools were lovely but the water was so cold, but saying that there is a heated indoor pool.
The resturant was lovely and the staff very attentive. There is a great selection of food to suit all tastes and I didn't tire of the choice. Also two bookable resturants, fusion and moroccan. These are both worth visiting and what makes them special are you choose from a menu not a buffet, so you feel as if your away from the normal hotel dining room.
Another positive with this hotel at the bars the drinks are named labels if you ask at no extra cost, Gordons, Smirnoff etc..
I would also like to mention the management, they were very visible around the hotel and always available to answer any questions.
This holiday was a family trip with two teenagers, did feel there was a lack of facilities and activities for this age group. Don't let this put you off, there are other things to do outside the hotel and there's also the free WiFi (at the reception area only) which kid's don't seem to be able to live without these days.
While on my stay decided to visit Marrakech, what a truly amazing place, did the trip off my own back but I know Thompsons run a trip. Also enjoyed the camel trek, never fails to raise a smile. A must, visit the souks in Agadir, you can pop into a taxi for around 20 dirham one way (£2). Don't forget to barter the prices down and if you're not happy with it walk away they'll soon come after you as they hate to lose the sale.
This was a truly great holiday.
