“Nice hotel -You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, breakfast very basic in a small restaurant. Didnt bother eating there as food didnt look very appetising and there are lots of good, cheap, fish restaurants nearby on the beach front area. Most definately NOT a 4 star, but still a nice conveniently located hotel. 5mins walk to the beach.

Stayed in this hotel Jan 30th to feb 6th, and could not fault the hotel. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, and made sure that we were having a good holiday and liking the city. They also rang our tou company when one of the trips was late to see were they were, they really did do they best. The breakfast was good, there was plenty to choose from and there was even little bits like pancakes and crumpets made as you waited, never went hungry from breakfast. The room was always spotlessly clean and was ample amount of room, the toilet was also seperate from the batthroom which was perfect if there are two of you. The balcony was a bit small, but this was not an issue as there was plenty of seats in the gardern to sit in and relax. the bar area in the evening is also lovely, nice to relax in after you have come in from having a meal. Overall i would recommended this hotel, the service, cleaniness and facilities were great, the hotel staff could not do enough for you, i would have no problems returning to this hotel.

Hotel was advertised as a 4* barely a 2*. but it was spotlessly clean.
Food was atrocious BREAKFAST 1 cereal Cornflakes, 1 juice (think it was orange), 1 cold meat/cheese, cold hard boiled eggs, hard rolls & small amount of croissants. 2mornings we had pancakes, yippee!!
Food at dinner was the same every night CHICKEN, served under various disguises, & luke warm/cold, limited choice of salad served with CHICKEN. Luke warm soup (not sure of flavour!!) with a hard roll The sweet small pieces of cake with different toppings, no fruit was offered.
Food so bad last two nights eat at restaurants along the promenade.
Only English guest in the hotel only person I spoke to was the receptionist limited English. NO English information who to contact in case of an emergency, travelling alone felt very vulnerable. Entertainment two large TV's showing football every night.

Room Tip: If you are English don't go!!!

I went to the Tildi with my husband over New Year and the staff could not have done more to give you a great night. we went for 2 weeks and i did not want to come home. The hotel is very clean and the room we had was very clean it was to the front of the hotel the sun is in the room from early morning till the afternoon and very quite . It would help if you could speak French as that is spoke more than English but the staff do try.The drink is very expensive in the hotel. We did like the food but it was the kind we like ,we don't go on holiday to eat English food.I don't think it is child orientated they do have a play area and child's pool.you are very close to the beach 3 min walk.Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed staying here as its very close to the beach. The staff are very friendsly esp the guy at the front with glasses. The breakfast is what you would expect as its contiental, but the food in the evening was awful. Would reccomend for people to stay bed & breakfast and eat out for your evening meal. The ladies who cleans the room were lovely and made it very comfortable for us to stay there. I would definatly go to hotel tildi again and would highly reccomend it.

Room Tip: I stayed at the front of the hotel to see the main road, as they didnt have any pool view rooms avai...

We booked the Hotel Tildi online for a very cheap price and there is NO doubt you get what you pay for here, and no more.

The hotel is a 4 star... apparently.

FACT: Facility-wise, Food-wise and Customer Service-wise: it is NO MORE than a 2 star.

The hotel is very tired looking, and in need of updating in terms of decoration and facilities, and as for the food....

The rooms are fairly basic but have a tv, fridge and safe. Our room was clean at least, although the net curtain was ripped, we had to wipe off the mould on the tiles around the bath ourselves and the shower curtain rail was covered in rust.

There IS Wifi advertised, although be warned it works in certain areas of the hotel only. (We actually changed rooms in order to receive the advertised free wifi.) Far better to advertise free wifi "in public areas ONLY" perhaps?

The food... we were B&B only... thank goodness... so our main quibbles were: no fresh fruit at all (madness especially with it so readily available here and so cheap to buy) Also no sliced bread or toaster provided, and why no chef frying or scrambling eggs or making omelettes? (Nearly every hotel I have visited, offer this.) How difficult can it be to have the chef stand behind a couple of gas burners, making eggs to order?
The coffee was frequently cold and the staff seem incredulous when you ask for hot coffee.

Reading other reviews here, I'm not the only guest who thinks this.

Information is limited, so you will need to ask about Pool Towels, about the Safe, Wifi code, Meal Times, Room Service etc.
Most hotels have a book in all rooms with hotel details... Not here!

And now for a personal hate of mine...
Rude, impolite and disinterested staff... All readily available here at the Hotel Tildi. Customer service is NOT a priority here, sadly.

***A smile and a pleasant greeting or comment, costs NOTHING and should be second nature to people working in the hospitality trade***

DON'T expect a polite "good morning" "Bonjour" or even "Hello."
DON'T expect a smile or someone asking you how you are or how your day has been... (unless you are female)
DO expect to be viewed with suspicion (especially if you are male) and to be greeted with a surly manner (most notably by two of the male staff on Reception) and most especially by the sour faced Doorman. How this man has ever been employed, is beyond me.

There are a few exceptions however... our Maid: very pleasant and with a beaming smile, one of the waitresses in the restaurant who was polite, and notably Aziz (I think that was his name) who works on Reception... polite, cheerful, engaging, thorough, efficient, and one of the few things right with this hotel. He changed our room without any fuss when we asked for a room overlooking the pool and gardens (rather than the road), and he went to great lengths to check wifi availability at the new room, even leaving Reception and bringing his cell phone to the room to check himself.

There are some good points you will be pleased to hear...

1.The gardens around the pool are lovely and well maintained, although the tiles around the pool are LETHAL when wet... beware of this!
2.The position of the hotel being a 5 minute walk either to the beach or to the town is VERY convenient (unlike some of the expensive 5 star hotels on the beach front which are at least a 30 minute walk away from the restaurants and shops along the Promenade.)
3.The cost of staying here (which was the reason we booked.)

All in all, a pretty forgettable experience, but there again... You get what you pay for!

TIP: Ask for a room overlooking the pool/gardens when you arrive, (and preferably on floor 3 or 4). as invariably you will have been allocated a room overlooking the road at the front of the hotel. The views of the mountains at the back are spectacular.
