“Berber Life & the Ourika Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

This was a full day trip and was a nice way to see and understand the Berber way of life. The usual sales pitches along the way niggle at you but all in all a good day out.

“Not exactly Niagra”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

It's quite a long way out of Marrakesh to visit these underwhelming waterfalls. We took a Taxi and the driver imade several unscheduled stops at shops/ potteries and a berber house along the way.

On arrival we were surrounded by local guides, we took one, but since the path to the waterfalls is pretty straightforward and laden with tourists, this probably isn't neccesary if you are reasonable agile and can manage uneven ground on your own. The guide wanted to charge an exorbitant fee for his minimal services, so as with anything in Morocco, agree a fee before setting off.

There is a small cafe at the bottom, the food was very average and the drinks a bit overpriced.

Overall, nice to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and there are some nice views, but there are better ways to spend your days if you have a limited time in Marrakesh.

“Perfect Day Trip from Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Easy hikes that take you to several waterfalls. We went on a guided tour that included travel to and from Marrakech. Getting there alone is an experience, beautiful scenery. You'll see sheep herders, people traveling by donkeys, etc. The mountains are breathtaking. The only bummer was all the begging kids and trash in some areas. All in all, worth the a day trip!

“Great Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

After looking at a few day excursions, we opted to go for a day trip to see the waterfalls in Ourika. We booked the trip through our hotel and piad 250dirhams each. We later found out this only includes the driver and visits to various pottery, herb and spice stores along the way. There is an additional cost for the guide which you will need and can be negotiated once you reach the village to start the trek. If you can ask for Mohammed, he was an amazing guide, we felt really safe and he never made us obligated to buy anything along the way. The guides charge per person for the trek, even if they take a whole group of you, but I definitely advise to get a guide to show you the best views and negotiate at the beginning to see all 5 waterfalls, its only 5 minutes extra to your trek and the extra four waterfalls you see are actually cascades of the same waterfall. However the views you see are amazing and highly recommended. Take proper walking boots or strong trainers, the trek is more of a climb across rocks and rivers to get to the waterfall. Pack light, and keep both hands free. This was the best part of our trip to Marrakech, so definitely make time to see it. We paid our guide 40 dirhams each for the trek. Ask for Mohammed and prepare to see some beautiful views of Morocco.

Health and safety is not a priority anywhere - you could easily slip and fall on the smooth boulders
