“Lots of nostaglia, but expensive for the family.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

I have grown up going to Arnold's Park. I was at the Park before they tore down some of the old buildings and I have been there since they added the new race track and since. The Park needs to have some family packaging pricing for the amusement part of things. The roller coaster will send you to the chiroprator...so be aware it is old and fun, but hard on the neck. there are lots of shops, but they are trendy and expensive. We love getting the ice cream and nutty bars which are a mainstay of the Park. They have great mini golf, but as I said be prepared to pay.

“Great Family Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2012

This isn't Disney World, but an excellent destination for your family. Enjoy the wooden roller coaster, Nutty Bar, Queen II excursion boat, and a fun day at the amusement park. Clean, well-kept nostalgic fun!

“Where we all go to vacation!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2012

A cluster of lakes which have an endless array of things to do. Shopping, nightlife, didning, watersports, and wonderful resorts make this a popular vacation destination for the area including Des Moines, Omaha, and Minneapolis.

“A Historic, Nostalgic Amusement Park Worth Visiting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

When you visit Historic Arnolds Park -- somebody take note that it is not "Arnold's Park" as Tripadvisor lists it -- you go because your parents visited there.

Or your grandparents.

First, what this amusement park is NOT:
Large
Outrageously expensive
Up-to-date
Overwhelming

Think of this as a vest-pocket amusement park where the theme is "nostalgia."

The centerpiece is The Legend roller coaster. This all-wood roller coaster encircles most of the park and goes back some 90 years (I think). It has enough rattles, creaks, shakes, vibrations and unexpected bumps to make it a quite thrilling 61-second ride. It's definitely worthy of multiple rides.

Other old-timey rides include a recently rebuilt Tilt-A-Whirl, Rock,-O-Plane, Bumper Cars, Ferris Wheel, Kiddit Train and various kiddie rides galore. There's a log flume ride to cool off -- although one of the most beautiful lakes is only steps away. Try the Bug House, which will fool with your senses, or the Mirror Maze, which is just plain stupid fun.

There's a midway of sorts, which if you are 8 years old with $20 to burn will life forever in your memory as you try to claim a stuffed toy to take home.

For the older crowd and families, there is a challenging Go-Kart track, which is pay-for-each-ride. Ditto a Slick Track where you can practice your slow-motion 4-wheel drifts.

Part of what makes the Arnolds Park Amusement Park worth visiting includes the adjacent Queens Court shopping area, where you can buy anything from touristy mementoes to some fairly high-end decor and artwork. And Okoboji-themed clothing, of course . . . lots of it.

Also adjacent are the Preservation Plaza (Green Space) which is the area's open-air site for concerts (popular music, not classical), art-in-the-park, motorcycle, and Old Iron Antique Car shows every summer. Preservation Plaza also abuts one of the best family beaches in this resort area.

Historic Arnolds Park -- your parents went there, your grandparents went there, and maybe even their parents. So you should visit often yourself.
