“Consistent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Reasonably priced. Fast service and consistent food. I enjoy most of the dishes I have tried. I like the orange beef, and the lunch special vegetable chicken.

“The Decor isn't much; But the food IS!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We are new to ANKENY and to Lucky Bamboo but we will become regulars. The early reviews made us cautious but we decided to give it a try. We are very glad we did. The decor doesn't excite your dining experience BUT the food makes up for it. The portion was generous, flavorful and very fresh. Our Kung Bao was prepared exactly to our specifications and served hot. Their Corn soup is delicious as is their Hot and Sour. The egg rolls are very fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The only downside was the crab rangoons ~ not much filling but what can you expect for an extra with your meal. Please ignore the earlier posts and give this little place a try. You won't be sorry.

“Delicious food, friendly staff, low prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

This was one of the best Chinese restaurants we've visited in central Iowa. The first impression is less than stellar: an order-at-the-counter place with fluorescent lighting and zero decor. But the food and prices were A-1. It was just two of us, so we didn't get to try much. The sizzling rice soup boasted a savory broth and the entree we split -- beef with broccoli -- was good basic fare. You won't find many surprises here (with the exception of a surprising lack of tofu-based vegetarian entrees), but the staff is very knowledgeable and seems willing to accommodate special requests.

“Lots of choices all for the right price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Lucky Bamboo has always been the top of my list for Chinese in Ankeny. They have a great selection of food, and it is always made fresh and served hot. When ordering to go, they tie the bag up so your food isn't going to spill out. I love that this place had a 'special' you can get all day long and get the soup and sides like egg roll/crab rangoon with anything anytime.

“Delicious and budget-friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Two of us had a very pleasant first experience at here. We shared a "full order" of Mongolian Pork, white rice, a large bowl of Chicken Sizzling Rice sou, 2 egg rolls and hot tea for a total cost under $20. The soup had an extremely tasty broth though it was a bit light on the chicken, rice and veggies. The pork entree, also richly flavored, was enough to serve three to four easily, and had enough sauce to flavor the rice. It was a bit light on the pork but the meat was top-notch. The egg rolls had a light and crispy exterior and tender, lightly seasoned vegetable filling. Next time, we'll probably order a couple of "specials," which are smaller servings of anything on the menu, along with an egg roll, a crab rangoon and a cup of the daily soup. This is probably the best deal on a Chinese dinner in central Iowa. Don't look for sophisticated decor here, just excellent food and friendly, knowledgable staff
