For all those who have stayed at Marriott Courtyards before, this property fits right in and doesn't offer many surprises either positive or negative.
The staff are very helpful and positive. I have stayed here on several occasions and checkin is quick and painless. Rooms are standard size and beds are comfortable. The sheets are a bit thin and cheap but are sufficient. Showers work fine with great water pressure. My biggest complaint about the rooms is that there is no electronic thermostat to control the temperature - only a knob on the radiator type unit with no indication what temperature will result. The quieter rooms either face the inner courtyard or outside opposite the neighboring highway.
In regards to food, the breakfast buffet is OK but not exceptional. Service is always delivered with a smile although sometimes, if you are in a hurry, not the most efficient. If you want to try breakfast outside, go to Walker Bros. Pancakes about quarter mile down the road; arguably the best pancakes in Chicago. For an inexpensive dinner try Portillo's, counter service made to order food (pasta, dinner salads, hot sandwiches, fried chicken) take out or eat in the fun 1950s themed dining room.
The best amenity of the hotel is free access to 24 Hour Fitness, a VERY large, well equipped gym about half mile away. This makes up for the terribly equipped fitness room at the hotel. At 24 Hour, equipment is always available even during the most busy times in the evening BUT dress before you go and shower when you get back to the hotel to avoid the smelly and cramped locker room.
You'll need a car at this property as there isn't anything within walking distance.
