“Good value for the deal I got”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

The best way to describe this hotel is if you had a hotel built in the early to mid 90s and equipped each room with top of the line equipment for that era, then left it and had a maid clean it up until 2012, you'd get this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and comfy, with your own living room area. You get a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, AC, sofas, and a TV from the 90's. A big plus is that they have their rooms equipped with the TV Japan channel. They also have a complementary breakfast. the proximity to Mitsuwa is also fantastic, as it's nearly next door.

There were also a few slight cons for this hotel. The remote for the TV didn't work, and I had to hold down the power button on the TV for it to turn on. The hand soap in the bathroom had cracked apart, right when I opened the pack, as if it had been sitting there for ages. Some of the wallpaper was peeling off near the top of the wall near the door, but it was hardly noticeable. The wifi is free, but you'll be hitting around 20 to 40kbps on it. All of these things didn't really bother me at all, however.

Overall, a quiet, pleasant, homely hotel. There's no beating the price at $75 per night, especially compared to all of the other hotels in the area, which all typically go for around $100 a night. I'd stay here again, if I'm ever in the area.

My two girls and I are staying here at the fabulous Jameson Suites of Arlington Heights. We were greeted so nicely and given the best rate they had. The rooms are super spacious suites with 2 large double beds and a separate living area with a nice sofa bed that pulls out and and a decent size fridge, sink and microwave. Beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast is hot and delicious. My favorite is the huge hot tub with large jets and its plenty hot. Very quiet hotel and in a great safe neighborhood. Will stay here again when visiting my parents.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are suites. We had 3 people, so the 2 double beds were great with a separat...

Once upon a time this was an AmeriSuites. I have stayed here a few times on business without any problems or concerns. This trip I have begun to notice that updates are needed. The hotel is still in good shape but the rooms do need updating to still qualify as a suite. Rooms have a fridge, sink and microwave but the cupboards are bare, no plates, silverware or cups. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are clean. They do offer a decent selection and a few different items on their breakfast bar including items for their Japanese clients. The whirlpool has been out of order for about a year.

I had read a review where someone stated that there were people with ankle tracking bracelets and I did see a young lady with one visiting with someone I believe was her mother. She spoke to a young man who entered the hotel and told him that he would not see her shortly as she would be leaving the hotel. I believe that the county or city is contracting or booking rooms for people that are in some point in their legal situations at this hotel. The front desk would only tell me that they did not know what I was asking about but there were people in the hotel with the anklets. I did not have any issues with anyone here on this trip or past trips but have to admit that I will most likely not be staying here again as security was in my mind.

This hotel is an older Ameri-Suites hotel (which appeared on our GPS). It is very clean and has earned two rewards- one in 2010 and one in 2011 that are showcased in the lobby for customer service and cleanliness. the rooms are very similar to Fairfield, Holiday Inn Express, and Ramada Suites: bed or 2 beds then a wall partition and a new sleeper sofa, tv, desk, small frig, and microwave. The last time I was in Chicago I stayed in almost identical room at Embassy Suites Rosemont and paid almost 160 dollars, where here I got an excellent Hotwire rate around 45 dollars. The breakfast is very simple- waffle station, cereal, yoplait yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, and sticky rice with condiments for their Asian guests. There is no swimming pool - only a hot tub/jacuzzi. There is nothing fancy about this hotel. If you want a clean place to sleep and don't mind that the place is somewhat dated considering bigger chains, this hotel is nice. For me and my family is was quite enough and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Arlington Hall next door are louder because the face the party hall's parking l...

Jameson Inn was a mostly pleasant play to stay in the north suburbs of Chicago. A very noticable Japanese clientel. Decent breakfast, including rice and rice seasoning packets. Very near a very large Japanese grocery store with food court. Many interior things need updating, bathroom doors, old televisions, pretty rough looking room doors. Staff were friendly. No local newspapers available. Lots of Japanese language papers.

Stayed here one night. Its OK. The rooms are a wee bit outdated and small for a suite. The bed was pretty nice though and comfortable.
AC system is very noisy, you can't sleep and have it on unless you are the easiest of sleepers.
The "free" breakfast in the morning is nothing to brag about. You can have a bagel, make a waffle, cereal, and canned fruit, I think there was biscuit and gravy too. Its not that great. There was steamed rice, powdered miso soup mix, and some various furikake for the rice too, for those that like Japanese breakfast. It doesn't appear staff make any special effort to refill things when they run out.
One thing I did like was the hotel was quiet. Good walls as I didn't hear any neighbor conversations or tv watching. Usually hotels in this price range seem like they have a couple layers of wallpaper separating rooms rather than soundproofing and solid walls.
They also are a 2 minute walk from the Japanese market Mitsuwa. It closes at 8 pm, but they have everything there, grocery, bakery, restaurants, alcohol. Good place.

The bathroom seems really cramped, the tv's are old school 90's things, and in our room the drain couldn't keep up with the shower so you stood in water as you showered. These aren't things I particularly care about but still nice to know before you consider a stay here. In summary, the rooms are outdated, but comfortable(++bed). As for service, it was adequate. Nothing stood out but nothing bad either. For under a hundred bucks this place is pretty good, and very convenient for getting around the arlington hts area or hopping on 90 and kicking into Chicago.

Oh one last thing. They have "hi speed" wi-fi, it was incredibly slow. Brought back memories of 56k modems (shudder)

Considering it was a subsidized hotel, I shouldn't complain. Stayed for $60 after United airline subsidized my stay. I was stuck in Chicago as the plane were delayed from New York due to severe storms. It's a pity the airport to hotel shuttle stopped after 11pm and I had to pay for my cab there. There were many people stuck at the airport that night. The hotel staff were friendly and the free internet use at the lobby was reasonable. The room smell terrible, like urine. I was just too tired to complain. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and set up morning call and taxi so I don't miss my flight!
