Description: The Peach Barn Cafe is the restaurant at Hedman Vineyards. Offerings include many traditional Swedish dishes such as Swedish Meatballs, Wiener Schnitzel, & Beef Tenderloin in a Bearnaise Sauce. Dining may be experienced both inside the cafe and outdoors. Indoors, guests may browse a selection of gifts imported from Scandinavian. Outdoors guests can walk our 10+ acre vineyards or enjoy the vine-wrapped patio for seating. Our winery, Hedman Vineyards, was opened in 2005 by the namesake of the vineyards, Anders & Gerd Hedman. We have grown into a staple of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail by offering some of the best food and wine to be found in Southern Illinois and the Heartland.Hedman Vineyards sits at the foot of the road leading to Bald Knob cross and is easily accessible from Illinois routes 127 & 51. Full service for guests who chose outdoor dining, available reservations, and an accessible ten acres of vineyards make Hedman Vineyards a fantastic choice for spending the day and/or evening with friends and family.More important to the experience at Hedman Vineyards is the culture which supports the business. Anders and Gerd can be found, on most days, prepping traditional Swedish cuisine for lunch and dinner. To compliment our rich tradition of delectable Swedish cuisine we also offer wines made with strong European and Swedish influences. For the dry wine drinker we offer a Norton (Our favorite) & Chambourcin, along with several other dry and semi-dry wines. For those with a taste for something a bit more sweet we offer wines made from both peaches and grapes, including our award-winning Peach Dessert Wine.Whether for conversation, great wine, fantastic food, specialty gifts from our Scandinavian gift shop, or just the beautiful scenery, we hope you'll join us on your next trip to the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail.

“Fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

We were touring between Giant City and Carbondale and happened on this little place. Nice bit of good ethnic food in a rural area that does not often offer such. After getting totally full we tried the pie and almost needed a nap to proceed.

“Best Swedish Meatballs ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

We are locals and always go here for our special occasions. They have the best food in Southern IL. Thank you for giving me my Swedish fix! Oh and stock up on the peach wine, it's the best and goes fast.

“Taste of Sweden in southern Illinois.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

A Swedish couple owns the cafe and vineyards. The food is always good and certainly not run of the mill. Specials vary and offerings include Salmon, Swedish Meatballs, and Lingonberry Pie to name a few. Located on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail in southern Illinois.
