“Amazing sunsets!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We really, really lucked out! Not only did we see great waves and some killer surfing, but the waves died down enough for us to swim & snorkel! The beach had plenty of room for people, never feeling cramped or crowded. But the best was the sunset and the rainbows. Some of the best rainbows we saw all week were at Waimea Bay and the most beautiful sunsets too. It was the perfect Kodak moment! By far this was the most visited beach for us because we got the chance to swim so much! The water was perfect and even at high tide, the waves weren't overwhelming!

“World class, year round.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Visited in January. The waves were over 10 ft but breaking far enough out that swimming was still possible with only a little bit of undertow.
Wave conditions varied greatly along the length of the beach, with the end towards the river being the calmest.
Enjoyed watching the waves break on the rocks to the east and wondered how sea-sprayed those homes up there must get!

The facilities are nice: parking, bathrooms, rinse-off showers.

“It is spelled Waimea!!! Jump off the rock!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

I grew up here, jumping off the rock only during summer months because in the winter they close the beach because the waves are huge!! In the summer it is crowded, horrible parking for such a huge beach, so get there before 10 am for a good selection of spots. Clear, beautiful water for swimming!

“Beautiful beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

A great spot on the N shore. Be careful in winter months with large surf. A great place to watch the sunset also.

“never seen waves like that”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I have a new respect for surfers. I like waves and all but just looking at some of these waves here was scary. It was raining all day and the wind was blowing pretty good and lots of surfers were still out there doing their thing. Kudos. Beach had a no swimming sign on it cause of how powerful the waves were. I like to go in the water but just watching the waves and the surfers was pretty cool here.
