A must do while in Maui . We left around 8 am and it took about 4 hours. The roads are narrow and you can only drive 25mph. The sites are unbelievable . Take your time and stop to see the beautiful waterfalls , rainforest and the oceanviews. stop at the first overlook where there is a restroom. The view of the ocean was spectacular! Stop at the halfway to hana food stand , the banana bread is the best. Once you get to Hand , more of Gods paradise awaits you.

“Best part of the entire trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We used the gypsy guide which I highly reccomend and toured the infamous Hana highway. We loved it so much we did it 2 times. This is a must do if you are in Maui. We stopped in Pai'a and for fuel and snacks an then stopped at Nahiku roadside for some great food as well. make sure you know where to stop and don't miss a thing !

“Hell's Highway!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Don't even think about taking this trip if anyone in your group gets car sick. It is a treacherous drive & not for the weak at heart. There is plenty of beautiful scenery but the Seven Sacred Pools were disappointing at best. The beach in Hana was rocky & it is the rainy place on the planet....not what I came to Maui for. It will take up one whole day of you vacation & you will be spent when it is over. I talked to some people that took a helicopter ride there & loved it. That would be the only way I go back!

“A beautiful drive on a windy road”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

We so enjoyed the drive to Hana. The road was narrow and windy but the falls and beauty made it worth the trip. This is a must see.

“Excellent attractions! Not excellent roads.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Overall the hana road (in my opinion) has the best views of waterfallls and forests in maui. About 1hr and 30min from kaanapali there is a campsite with the 7 sacred falls. YOU MUST VISIT THERE. Usually it is open and you can swim unless there is a flood. But the sight of the flood is outstanding also! There are also caves, beaches, farms, trails, and even small restaurants all close to each other.
The one problem might be that the roads are narrow and if your not an experienced driver, its dangerous. There are buses that go to Hana, but driving there and actually relaxing might be better. Remember to bring bug spray if your hiking, and buy a meaninful souvenir!!!!!
