“Wonderful place to get away from it all.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We had a great stay at the Kauai Lagoons. The rooms are well appointed and spacious. The lanais were big and provided a great place to relax day or night. The lanai doors open up the entire span of the doorway and this made it feel more like an open-air room rather than a clostrophobic balcony in other places we have stayed.

The rooms had all you could ask for from a walk-in closet in the master bedroom to the "soft" close drawers and cabinets. Everything was up-to-date and show no sign of wear & tear. There was plenty of places to store things - so much storage I actually did not see my luggage from the moment we unpacked.

The pool was nice for us and our toddler to enjoy but we decided to venture out to the many beaches on the island. There are shallow sections for the young ones to play in and a small slide. There is a 3 mile walk/run path on the property for those who fancy a jog, run, or walk.

The only recommendation we made to the staff was for them to look into adding a playground for the children onsite. This would help keep them busy outside of the pool.

Proximity to the airport was not a bother for us and at times you forget that you are close to it.

Positives - Many. The staff were ultra friendly. The location and grounds were nice. The bed was very comfortable and I found the whole place quite relaxing.

Negatives - Leaving....I did not want to leave this place and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Although it was not too bad ....if you want to avoid noise from the pool I would recommend staying i...

We have been fortunate to stay at this beautiful and quiet resort 2 times and love the experience on each visit. Others have mentioned Helicopter noise and some issue with the room not being kid friendly, not sure quite what they are referring to as it was always quiet and relaxing. The kid friendly statement would seem to be a non-issue, as we don't select resorts based on the furniture not adhering to pre-school standards. This property is truly Marriott, great location, smaller hotel, top of the line appliances and soft goods..not to mention the beautiful views.

Room Tip: Anything on the 3rd Floor!

As a long time MVC owner, we have stayed in quite a few resorts and the accommodations at this one is superior. The only down side is not much on the property besides the spectacular views, for all else you have to either drive or take the shuttle down to the Marriott Beach Club. Another issue was the pool was closed the day we arrived for several hours due to an "accident" by a child, then the pool re-opened and the same child had the same "accident" again and closed the pool. We asked for a pass for the Beach Club pool and were denied. Otherwise a wonderful experience

My husband and I are still at the Lagoons and are pretty happy that we are staying here. First, it's a good location to go anywhere - drive to a Princeville and Hanalei on the north shore - it takes a while to get there but is a beautiful drive. Or go south or west such as to Poipu or to the Waimea Canyon. It's right next to the airport so very convenient - very few planes come in and out so the noise has not been an issue for us at all. The Lagoons has a shuttle that can take or pick you up at the airport or take you over to the Marriott Hotel. We enjoyed going there for breakfast a couple of times and went to Dukes one night for dinner- easy to get the shuttle instead of driving and parking there. The Lagoons is quiet and has no restaurants. Few children here during our stay so the pool has been quiet. No beach but the hotel has a beautiful grounds. The staff here are very nice as is the unit - large, with high end appliances, a huge laundry room, and absolutely wonderful comfy beds ! The lanai and huge doors are great in the morning because the sun comes up behind the buildings but in the afternoon, the lanai's are hot & sunny. Ok, as for room location - we are Marriott owners but all I could get here was island view because we weren't staying for a full week so I could not book more than 10 months out. We are on the 2nd floor in building A - which is closest to the water. To the side of our lanai we have a beautiful view of the water and mountains. Looking straight out from it, we have a view of a huge dirt area and those white pylons that som people have mentioned. The pylons don't bother me as much as the dirt. They water it so perhaps they are trying to grow grass there but aren't too successful yet. If you can get oceanfront in building A, you will have a bit better view of the water & mountains and less of the dirt and pylons. If you can only get island view, I would suggest building B, second floor, because you can't get any higher than second floor with island view. Building C seems to have a dirt area beside it, so not sure about that building. Buidings B&C are closest to the pool. First floor units have far less privacy but might be good if you have small children with you. Overall however a beautiful and quiet place in a good location. The other Marriott timeshare here in Poipu is more out of the way but has a nice beach and is in a more beachy community. Hope my room suggestions have helped.

So glad we decided to stay at Kauai Lagoons. The views are outstanding and this was perfect for a relaxing vacation. The rooms are some of the best we have been to. Love the Lanai doors (even though we had some issues trying to close them, but think it was more user error). The top of the line appliances were wonderful. The only downside was the family that was below us (we were on the 2nd floor). They decided to stay out on the Lanai until after midnight and their voices and moving the lanai furniture was very noisy despite our bedrooom windows being closed. I think over the Labor Day weekend, there were quite a few locals who stayed at the Lagoons and the pool was overrun with kids who had no supervision from their parents. They were climbing all over the rocks at the pool and screaming and running around. A staff member ended up coming out to the pool to verify all the guests room numbers and it seemed as if some guests had "extra" people and they were asked to leave. The pool is small, so for the extra kids that were there, they pretty much took over the pool. Other than that small issue, we would return. Would like to see a restaurant on site. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

These were originally built as private residences. The appliances are top of the line, and the cabinetry , flooring , and fixtures are upgraded as well. We stayed in a 3 bedroom 3 bath bottom floor unit and it was just beautiful with a breathtaking view of the ocean, golf course , and light house! Very quiet property. Superb golf course

We stayed here at the end of our Kauai vacation for a few days. The 2-bedroom unit was very well appointed and spacious. Our favorite were the patio doors, which had several panels that could all be opened to take in our wonderful view!

We were traveling with our 3 kids (all under 10). They enjoyed the pool area, although small compared to other Marriott timeshares. There was a large activity room as well, with video games, board games, etc. and movies we could check out.

There was no on-site restaurant which can be viewed as inconvenient but we were kind of "forced" to seek out island eateries instead.

The location is quite secluded, but you are a short drive to lots of great activities. The only draw back to this resort are the planes landing nearby, but it isn't too busy where it is day and night noise.
